This growing family home needed some softening around some of its harder, mid-century modern edges. We toned down the color palette and added character and dimension, along with some calming coastal flair. 1950's mid-century modern beach house built by architect Richard Leitch in Carpinteria, California. Leitch built two one-story adjacent homes on the property which made for the perfect space to share seaside with family. In 2016, Emily restored the homes with a goal of melding past and present. The clients were looking for a soft and clean mid century modern feel with a touch of coastal. We kept the cabinetry clean and minimal but with a beautiful handle incorporating some of the Walnut wood that we repeated throughout the build. All of the cabinetry was custom made with solid maple boxes and dovetailed soft close drawers throughout.
