That middle chrome piece should be able to slide right out. But yes the trim is siliconed to the wall. Just score it and pry it off gently. They sell replacement cartridges. I would definitely remove the escutcheon from the wall, it’ll be a lot easier to work with. But please make sure to turn your water off when you do this bc the valve is what’s stopping the water from spewing out More on reddit.com

This is a 20+ year old Moen fixture that has a slow drip on the hot side. I'm trying to replace the cartridge to fix it.
Anyone know how to get this cartridge out of the faucet? (the white plastic part).
Ive tried channel locks. I tried by hand. I also tried to locate a notch to slip a small flathead screwdriver in to ply it up (saw that on YouTube) but not seeing that notch either.

Mine was stuck due to mineral build up. Moen suggested pouring vinegar on to the cartridge and letting it soak. It took a few hours, but it worked and it unscrewed. That may or may not work for you.

A small flat screwdriver tapped between the alignment tab and the body of the stem will break the set on the o-ring and push it up slightly. Use a small hammer to tap. The tab is located on the side and is approximately 1/8" wide. I have been using this technique for 40 years. It works on Delta stems too.

This looks like a 1224 cartridge. Moen makes a cartridge puller sold separately where you'd buy the new cartridge. Before buying one try getting a large adjustable wrench 10" or an open end wrench and fit it over the two flat surfaces at the base of the cartridge and try turning it to break the seal between the cartridge and the valve base. They can be corroded together and difficult to separate. then try pulling up on the screw.
