Just got a new place and considering a touchless faucet (I hate touching the handle with raw meat on my hands - germophobe). Does anyone have one and powers it by batteries? I'd prefer not to run new electrical to power it. A friend in remodeling told me that she always runs new electrical, but she also does high-end remodeling and this is NOT a high end kitchen. Thoughts on battery power?

Mine takes 6C batteries and with a family of four I change the batteries about once a year. It runs for 4 minutes before shutting itself off, so you’ll need to reactivate it if you’re filling the sink. It’s made by Delta and works great. It also has an LED temperature indicator on it.

It's not the most fancy option, but you can order a foot pedal like you may have seen in hospital settings. When you step up to the sink, you depress the pedal, and water starts flowing.

I am looking at the Moen Adler kitchen faucet and the basic model is $130, the touchless model is $260,
which is not a small difference consider it's 2x the price.

As a plumber, these are the worst. Not the brand, the product. It's a problem that didn't exist. Even what you're saying is more expensive is a cheap faucet that won't last. You get what you pay for. I have friends that I've put these garbage faucets in for, and then 2 years later, I put a different one with some other new features because the last one broke. Don't be fooled by the hype of the novelty.

I love my touchless sensor faucets. I cook and bake a lot, the ability to wash my hands without touching a faucet is amazing. But, I’ve had to turn the front sensor off as my cat was using it as a water fountain. She hasn’t figured out the top sensor so I’m safe. I have Moen from a plumbing supply house.

So the sensor is working but the manual handle is no longer working. I replaced batteries to brand new one but no luck. Also tried to reset by pressing the black button no luck. Try power reset by taking off the battery and putting it back in .. no luck.
Good thing is sensor still works but the valve seems to have stuck on cold water.
Can someone please help save my family from kitchen emergency :)

Um… if you want to use the faucet with the handle, use the motion detect to turn the water on, then control with the handle after that. It’s not magic, it’s just a solenoid that allows water to pass in one state, and doesn’t allow water to pass in a different state. Edit: record scratch… with the handle in the off position, there shouldn’t be any water coming out. Ok I’m confused. What does the underside look like?

Try changing the batteries. They act funny when batteries get low. Otherwise contact moen with model number.

A touchless faucet in the kitchen seems like a neat idea, but will it introduce more hassle than it's worth? A faucet is a simple device, now we're adding additional electronic components, i.e. more that can go wrong.
Am I overthinking it and this inexpensive luxury is worth it? Or should I go with the traditional type of faucet I've been using for the past 40 years and not introduce more that can go wrong?

Those things send a chill up my spine. Talk about a solution in search of a problem. Exactly what does putting your hand near the faucet, but not touching it accomplish that moving your hand another inch can’t? Very premium price for a novelty item IMO.
