ISO a suv with preferably less then 150k miles. I live in nj and need to find one for my lady. We’ve been looking at Hondas as well as Subarus. And advice on what’s the best bet crvs/pilot or outback/foresters? Any common issues with them? Years to avoid? Any input helps thank you

For $5k, you may have difficulty getting a Honda, Subaru, or Toyota that isn’t absolutely used up. A couple budget options that can be decent if they were well maintained are first gen Saturn VUEs (avoid examples with the CVT). These can be had with a decent enough 2.2L I4 or a V6 that was sourced from Honda. First gen Ford Escapes/Mazda Tributes are another option. Absolutely avoid 2013 or newer Escapes.

Honestly I’d look for a second gen CR-V. I think they go for around that price depending on condition. My mom had one when I was kid and it was more than enough space for our family. Also I think they had bonus things like the lower trunk cover being a table. And it has a full size spare on the back. That being said, I’m slightly going off nostalgia here and I’m not sure of that generations reliability. But my mom’s CR-V is still running. More on reddit.com
