I am guessing that first measurement is your width? My Suggestion is the Majestic Ruby or Trilliant. They both offer a good all in package out the box while also having a good traditional or contemporary design. They both are very easy to use and provide full flame height and blower speed control. You can even upgrade them to be used with your smart phone through your home wifi if desired. Ruby Trilliant Pretty much any gas insert you get that comes from a reputable brand is going to be electronic ignition and comes with a blower. So it will require power. If you have an outlet close to your fireplace already, there is no need to bring any additional power unless you want a power receptacle inside the firebox to hide your power cord for aesthetic reasons. Both of these units allow for your mantel to sit above it along with a TV above that. I personally do not find having a TV above your fireplace takes away any focal point if the function of your room is to have entertainment. If you and your family watches TV and movies there or your friends come over to watch sports, then that is already part of the main focal point of the movie. Answer from zismahname on reddit.com

Gas Fireplace Inserts: Use the #1 Fireplace Insert Resource
February 27, 2024 - Blowers do not increase the heat output of a hearth appliance, they simply distribute the produced heat more quickly and evenly. Without one, the fireplace would heat like a large space heater or radiator.

Can I add a blower to my gas fireplace?

No you cannot. That’s a gas logset installed in a wood burning fireplace. If you place a blower behind the gas logset then you’ll be pushing exhaust fumes into the room and it could kill you.

The type of fireplace you have is largely cosmetic and designed to be decorative. If you really want some heat output then you should consult a fireplace shop about installing a gas insert into your fireplace.

Is a gas fireplace insert efficient and a good source of added heat?
It's burning fuel for heat. It won't be much more efficient than your existing system, and won't add heat in rooms beyond where the fireplace is. It's pretty but as a source of heat, not huge. My impression of them is that they are more for looks than performance. The money you would spend on installing a gas fireplace, spend that on tightening up your home instead. It'll probably be more effective and unlike the money you spend on a fireplace, money spent on improving airtightness and home insulation is money that you slowly get back, forever, in the form of smaller utility bills. r/Fireplaces on Reddit: Recommendation for gas inserts?
February 28, 2024 -

Hello fellow Piros! I’m hoping you might steer me towards a natural gas insert I can install or have installed into an old brick surround fireplace that’s missing a damper. The opening is 33x31 and there’s a wood mantel about 6 + inches away, all the way around. The fireplace is located on the first floor of a 2 1/2 story duplex. The chimney has been repointed recently and there’s a cap installed. It’s about 35’ high and would need pipe staging or a lift for access. My bil is a plumber and will install the gas supply and shutoff per manufacturer’s specs. So, my questions are… What brands offer a great look, dependablity, easy to operate and are reasonably priced? Do I need a 110v receptacle or pig tail? If so, where? A fan for heat is not necessary. How should it be vented? Can it go out the back of the chimney directly or up a 30’ flue? Ventless if safe seems fine, too. Does anyone have an opinion on locating a wide screen above the mantelpiece? Does the radiant heat effect the electronics? Do you think a tv above the fireplace detracts from the focal point of the room? I appreciate your thoughts! TIA

For a 33" x 31" masonry opening, a gas insert is a straightforward upgrade. Most installs use co-linear venting (two liners up the chimney), which works well with your 35' height. You may need a 110v outlet if the insert uses electronic ignition, but standing-pilot systems don’t require power. Ventless models are technically allowed in some places but aren’t ideal in older homes because of moisture and air-quality concerns. A TV above the mantel is usually okay if you follow the clearance chart and your mantel projects enough to deflect heat. Your repointed chimney, existing cap, and access to a plumber for the gas line all put you in a good position for a smooth install.

Gas Fireplaces, Inserts & Stoves | Blower & Fan Kits
Let our experts help you track down the correct replacement blower, fan kit or part for your application. We typically only need the fireplace or stove's make and model to determine exactly what you need. This information can usually be found on gas fireplaces by removing the lower access panel and finding your fireplace's name tag or identificaton card. Wood inserts will often times have the same identificaton card, while freestanding stoves and others might have this information printed on a rear panel or door.
