What is mortgage amortization?
Mortgage amortization refers to the time that it’ll take to pay off your mortgage. It’s a scheduled plan that breaks down your mortgage loan into monthly payments, which includes the principal and interest. As you make these payments over time, your debt will gradually decrease until it’s paid off.

What is the mortgage principal?
Mortgage principal is the initial amount of money you borrow from a lender to buy a home. This portion doesn’t include interest and is the core amount you need to pay back over time through monthly mortgage payments. As you make these payments, the mortgage principal gradually reduces, and you build equity in your home.

What is the difference between an open and closed mortgage?
The main difference between an open and closed mortgage is the type of flexibility that’s offered for payments. With an open mortgage, you get to make extra payments or pay it off early without any penalties. A closed mortgage has more set terms, so if you want to make extra payments or pay it off early, there may be fees involved.

Hello
I'm about to hopefully be hired as FTE CS 1 and I would like to know how much I would make per pay net so I can budget now and see what I can get.
I was a casual before so I know I have more things to pay now. I live in Quebec and will be working in Ontario.
So there are all these kinds of payroll calculators, income tax calculator but I really have no clue what to look for... I've never really been educated on these sort of things.
Thanks for your help!

A ballpark estimate is that your net pay will be about 2/3 of your gross. So take your gross salary, multiply by 0.66, and you'll have a reasonable estimate. If you want to figure out your deductions for pension, union dues, and whatnot - do a search of the archives of this sub. There have been plenty of threads in the past where the same question has been asked (if the mods create a FAQ it'd probably be a good addition).
