Just looking for some feedback, since it seems like most of you guys are using Ikea furniture. I'm a little inexperienced in what to look for at Ikea, I like the look of the MALM series but I'm not sure how the quality is. Price and color/style don't really matter since my room is currently a blank slate, I'll be starting with upgrading my old dresser and night stand. Any feedback is appreciated!
They're the first thing I've made that feel beautiful and I'm really proud of them.
Based on the Moon Fry nightstand from Foureyes with some fairly significant modifications. Walnut with brass pulls, finished in Natura Onecoat. Drawers are 1/2" baltic birch plywood with Blum undermount slides.
Most of the build went okay, other than 1) Having to remake one of the leg assemblies because I had the clamp in the wrong spot and it ended up with the wrong angle and 2) Had to remake a drawer front as I drilled through it from the back when attaching it. Also, I had to fight a lot with the drawer slides to get everything just right. And I need more practice gluing up mitered boxes. And gluing up flat panels.
Now that I think about it, lots of stuff went wrong. Woodworking is hard.
Hi all! Is there a way to hack something similar to this?
We’re trying to build a wardrobe around our bed but we both appreciate having something resembling a nightstand, which is why we don’t want to just have a solid Pax on each side.
We’re working with about 46” of space (wall to bed), and 8’ ceilings.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
