Bc the canopy will stay for the duration, but the inserts won’t), and the limits… (the pipa rx has 4-32lbs, 32”, vs the aire rx of 4-30, 30”). I would just get the regular rx. Basically it reads like the difference is merino wool, magnetic buckle holders vs inserting buckle holders, and some tiny amount of weight? Meh. Not worth $150. Edit: I wish they would have redesigned the no rethread harness head cushion (since it sometimes caused fit issues for the littlest babies and kiddos at the larger end with big heads) rather than switching to a manual rethread. I had been waiting for this, since it became clear at the end of 2023 that the Pipa Lite was no longer being sold by retailers. Thanks to this subreddit for letting me know a new Pipa was coming!
Among the Instagram comments I saw this morning:
-With inserts, it's barely (.2 lbs) lighter than the regular Pipa
-They got rid of the no-rethread harness and replaced it with a rethread one
-The limit is 30 lbs rather than 32, and 30 inches rather than 32 inches compared to the previous Pipa Lite
I was looking forward to this one but now it seems I might have been better off purchasing the previous Pipa Lite.
Any thoughts? I'm a FTM due in about two months, so a lot of these features and products are still new to me but I've been following this product since I purchased a used Mixx stroller and was handed down a Mixx bassinet.

A little disappointed. I don't see why it's an extra $150...maybe $50 extra because of the merino wool, the magnetic buckle holders, extra foam, and the extra insert...but $150...jeez. with the no re thread harness I'd have pulled the trigger. The uppababy Mesa max is looking like a much better deal even at $420 or whatever. It has a no rethread harness, merino wool, etc..only thing that is "bleh" is the damn base, which the Relx has beat...but I could just opt for a regular Rx carseat instead. Baby ain't coming until May/June so I was hoping this release would've been better and I was holding off on buying the regular RX and mixx Next..now it seems I sorta waited for nothing..although I'm in no rush right now lol

Hello! Does anybody have any info on when this will be released? I can't find anything online! I put the Pipa Lite RX on my registry *right* before it got discontinued. I've heard 12/1/23 for the new release, and now I'm being told "Early Spring". I've got time before my due date in July, but would love to find out more info if there are any insiders on here!

I sent an email to Nuna early this year asking, and they told me “early 2024”. My due date is Jan 27, so I gave up and bought the Pipa RX 🤷♀️

I've been deep in researching car seats and am between the Nuna PIPA and the Chicco keyfit 35. Im leaning towards the Nuna PIPA but saw that it will be discontinued over the few couple of months. Should I avoid purchasing this car seat just because it's being discontinued?
I'm a bit worried this could make it harder to buy extra bases or be compatible with strollers over the next year. I welcome any opinions on these car seat choices too!

It’s not being discontinued; it’s being redesigned and should be back soon. Highly recommend a Nuna Pipa car seat! I have the Pipa rx and it’s SO light (and it’s not even the Lite!) I would definitely get the Nuna for that deep a discount; there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to get adapters for it. And it’s still safe; they wouldn’t be allowed to sell it still if it wasn’t safe (and I actually emailed the company to find out if it was still safe; it is!)

Hi! I’m pretty sure it’s just the Nuna Pipa Lite Rx that’s being discontinued not the Nuna Pipa Rx or the Pipa Urban. So I doubt it would change that much that it’s not compatible with things. I just got the Pipa Rx and because I’ll be buying everything else in the next few months, preferably secondhand (like stroller) I’m not worried about lack of products. Plus baby will grow out of it decently fast!

The weight difference is minimal, so which is better from a crash rating perspective? So confused. I like having a load leg and something that feels v safe. But I also need lightweight.

I don’t think the weight difference is enough to justify another $100, we had a pipa rx for my first kiddo and loved it! We’re trying out the Urbn for our next kiddo!

Depends on where you are. Official/regulated crash ratings are not released in the US. FWIW, We have the Pipa RX and it’s very light. The only part that’s heavy is my baby.

Does anybody know why the Nuna Pipa Aire Rx car seat is practically unavailable? I would love to buy it in the color Cavier and it is out of stock everywhere! The Pipa rx w RELX base in caviar is available at several stores. Honestly, there’s not much difference between the two and the weight difference when you actually weigh it with the canopy and infant insert, which they do not do on their site, is about a pound and a half, which is pretty minimal. I’d just go w the Pipa rx tbh. - CPST
