NYSNA Nurses Deliver 10-Day Strike Notice at Twelve Private Sector Hospitals in New York City
Good and more power to them. Hospitals have become stupidly top heavy with administration's and not enough boots on the ground. Patient to nurse ratios are unacceptable for the pay they offer and how quickly we forgot the shit nurses and doctors went through during covid More on reddit.com
Any word on this NYC Nursing strike
the strike is set to start on the 12th. I believe 4 hospitals settled last night. management is definitely trying to paint the nurses out badly and that we’re money hungry, when in reality, yes raises are part of what we’re asking for in the new contract but there are so many patient care related aspects we’re asking for too. also i can’t speak to other hospitals, but my hospital had like 20 full days of negotiations (like 9-5) and management constantly screwed around and would show up late with no notice or say they were going to caucus and leave for the day with no notice. so in reality, they were very much the ones not actually bargaining in good faith. Nurses at 15 hospitals in NYC and Long Island deliver 10-day strike notices
Not saying providers are saints but every hospitalization we’ve had at Mount Sinai has been a poor nursing experience. In all cases, too many nurses mostly stood around chatting and took issue with anything we asked, as though doing the basics of their job is a burden. And believe me, we tried very hard to be kind and not be a burden; more “difficult” families received even worse treatment (by my observation). We’ve come across amazing nurses too and several anecdotes is not data, but I feel like there’s some systematic issue. Reading the comments, lionizing individual nurses is fair enough but lionizing the entire profession strikes me as naive at best. More on reddit.com

1 day ago - Outside Mount Sinai Hospital in Harlem early Monday, striking nurses bundled up against the cold chanted "the nurses united will never be defeated" as they cheered on each other. “I was on strike three years ago, and it sucks to be back outside, having to fight for health care, having to fight to protect my patients, having to fight to be protected myself,” said Donovan Carey, an emergency-room nurse at the hospital.

‘No shortage of wealth’: Mamdani, other Democrats chide NYC hospital executives over nurses’ strike - POLITICO
2 days ago - Mamdani, who catapulted into City Hall on a platform of making New York City more affordable, said the strike raises fundamental questions about who benefits from the country’s complicated, costly and porous health care system. “There is no shortage of wealth in the health care industry, especially so at the three privately operated hospital groups at which nurses are striking,” Mamdani said Monday at the picket line outside New York-Presbyterian’s upper Manhattan hospital campus.

Why nurses strike | New York State Nurses Association
As I write this, thousands of nurses in New York are taking strike votes. Thousands more are struggling with impossible patient loads. Most of us leave work exhausted and unfulfilled, unable to deliver the kind of care we’re trained for.
