I work for Nvidia(MODS team represent!) Any other Nvidia employees on Reddit?
In case you are wondering, yes it is a dream job, yes I love it here, yes its like the willy wonka factory except instead of chocolate we make jaw droppingly amazing technology.
I’m trying to figure out the current value of NVIDIA stock options that were granted 5 years ago.
Assuming someone joined NVIDIA and was given stock options worth $36,000 at that time (pretty standard of a sales person)..
And considering all the stock splits that have occurred since then, including the most recent 10-for-1 split in 2024..
How much would those options be worth at today’s stock price?
Hi I recently bought an rtx 2070 super off a family friend that works in nvidia. I did this because apparently he was getting 50 dollars of the gpu. He said this was a new card so I thought it was a good deal. When it arrived, it had the letters RMA in big letters on the front of the package. This is the first time ordering through this and was wondering if this was on every box or is it a refurbished card. Thanks!
My friend is probably getting an internship at NVIDIA. I was wondering if they get an employee discount on GPUs because he doesn't need one and i would want it lol

So I had a pretty bad experience at my local best buy, and felt sharing it with this community may help me understand if this is a regular occurrence. I'm not privy to how Best Buy systems work, but there if this is something that happens regularly...something needs to get fixed. I'll try to organize it as best as possible.

I was able to secure an order on a RTX 3080 FE GPU via Best Buy online. I went through the checkout process incredibly quickly because this GPU is in very high demand, and realized it was an in-store pick up item. I'm not 100% sure if in-store pickup was the only available option, but from the few people I saw online I believe it was.

This was the day I was scheduled to pick-up my item. I ended up just heading to the store around noon-1pm because my status didn't flip to ready for pick-up (I admit I had no patience, but figured i'd go to the store and try at least). Go there and was told the truck recently came, and it was still being unloaded. The associate said it'll be ready before they close for the day.
So around 6pm I get an email saying that there is a delay with my order. I'm a bit nervous after receiving this, but would head to the store the next day to see what was going on.
I searched on reddit/discord and saw a few other people go delayed as well, so I figured its widespread and I shouldn't worry. However a user on r/nvidia suggested that talking to the store manager would shed more light on the order. Basically saying they'd be able to look in the system and give me a more detailed status update. (Like if the item was shipped to the store, received, or if it was actually delayed)

I call the store around 2pm (don't exactly remember), and the employee checks on my order then tells me "she can't put hands on it, so it would be best to come in and speak to the manager for a quicker response".
So I head to the store around 5pm, and talk to someone at the customer service/pick-up counter. After a few minutes the employee basically tells me that they sold my item. They said that the item was taken off the truck and never picked for my order which made it available in their inventory. I found this very hard to believe because of what this item was. There was zero chance this graphics card hit the sales floor and was purchased by a customer, because any tech savy person (which are a good bit of Best Buy employees) would know what this was.
So I try to keep my composure, but look this employee in this face and said "Are you telling me you sold my graphics card that I ordered?" He basically confirms, and then a few other employees behind him state they were trying to "pick" my order earlier and it came up -1 inventory saying they were unable to locate the card. I begin to get a bit more agitated, and said can you get a manager because this is ridiculous.
Manager happens to be a few feet away, and chimes in saying something like "sorry sir, we'll try to get one from another store or order you a new one". Admittingly this manger had no idea what the item was, and I was "that won't be possible given how difficult it was for me to even secure an order for it". She then get a little agitated and tries to get more information on the situation while i step away from the counter.
She then comes up to me and lets me know she's going to find out more information and will be back with me shortly.
Going to put this part line by line because it'll read better.
15-20 mins later she comes back out and tells me "So...we sold your graphics card",
i stopped her before she went further and said "to who...and employee?"
She states "yes sir an employee purchased it".
My anger level went through the roof, but I kept my composure in hopes she'd have a resolution.
She then says "I can get the employee to bring the card back and give you a $200 gift card or we can try to get you a different card".
I said "has the card been opened/used?"
She said "yes, he installed it in his computer already"
I said "I want it, get him to bring it back"
In the time the employee had to bring the used card back, another employee approaches me saying he was the person who sold him the card. He states that the card was never tied to my order, and they thoroughly checked the system before moving forward with buying it. He said in his system the graphics card was not attached to any order, but in the system that management has they are able to see it attached to my order. He stated they should've consulted a manager to check their system to be sure, but they didnt.
If you know anything about these cards, they just dont come in stock at your local Best Buy. For a tech savvy employee to think this graphics card was sent to their store for stock was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. These cards have dropped 2 (maybe 3 times) in the past 3-4 months, and have sold out each time because Best Buy is the exclusive retailer for Nvidia on them.
Fast forward 20 mins, the employee brings the card back and we both look over it. He tells me he installed it earlier in the day, and played Call of Duty for an hour on it. He continuously says he's sorry, and understands my frustration. The employee has to return the graphics card to get his money back, and in turn the manager has to cancel my order. She then re-rings me up.

The store manager does not give me a $200 gift card, rather she just discounts the card $200. She then states to let her know if anything is wrong with it when I install it, and apologizes again for the entire situation.

TLDR: Order a hard to get item online for in-store pickup, employee buys it, manager forces employee to bring it back after he has already installed it in his computer, I get a used graphics card for a $200 discount.

so lots of nvidia employees got very wealthy recently. people are now semi-retiring. how would this impact the future of nvidia? would it still have the drive to be at the top long term?
