I drew a small black circle around the area of that tab where you can slip a utility knife point underneath of it and pop it out it should come out pretty easily.

So far, everything I find online shows that the screw is certainly under the cap but no direction how specifically to remove the cap. Here is an image that I found:

I started to take a part an old Moen Kitchen faucet. It's a single handle with a side sprayer. The side sprayer piece attaches to the main column under the sink - and further up is another nut which I can't get to yet. The side sprayer connection seems almost smooth and I can't get an angle on it to remove it (I've cut the side sprayer line so it wasn't in the way). Can I cut the stem above the sink - would that release the bracket underneath?
Or any suggestions on how to remove that side sprayer connection?
