Supposedly it's middle mouse button, but obviously I'm lacking that. In other browsers it was generally ctrl+click (on a link) to open a link in a new tab. But that isn't working.
Can't find any options in the settings either to change it. Is there a workaround, or an addon/extension for this?
Edit: To clarify, I'm not talking about Ctrl+T. That just opens a blank tab, or my last closed tab.

recently Microsoft added a new feature to windows explorer, which is the Windows Explorer Tabs, so I tried to search for a shortcut to open any folder/folders I'm selecting in a new Tab on the same windows explorer window, but I couldn't find any shortcut for that on the internet after a little search,
can you help me please and tell me what is the shortcut to open folder/folders in a new Tab in the same Windows Explorer window if there is one for it?,

Don't think there is a native way of doing that in Chrome.
However there is an Chrome extension specifically for that – Tab to Window Keyboard Shortcut.
As mentioned, there doesn't seem to be a shortcut for popping the current tab out to a new window. But you can try clicking on the address bar then hitting Shift + Enter or shift-click a link.
The former duplicates the current tab in a new window. The latter opens the selected link in a new window. (Validated on Mac OSX 10.10.)
Use Tab To Window extension of chrome. it will provide you several shortcuts to manage your tabs.
For example, use Alt+Shift+X to move the active tab to a new window.
The shortcuts are customisable.
In case someone is interested in a current solution without extensions:
If you just start typing the name of the website you want to access or highlight the URL and press Shift+Return, a new detached window will open.
Clicking on the links and selecting "Open in New Window" is slowing me down. Its a repetitive task and the seconds are adding up.
I looked for a solution but could not find one.
If you're on MacOS, this is doable via OS settings. MacOS is super helpful for app-specific keyboard shortcuts as long as the action appears in the app menu.
On latest Chrome (Feb 2022), I see these 2 actions in the menus:
- File -> New Tab (⌘T)
- Tab -> New Tab to the Right (no shortcut)
To adjust these shortcuts, go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts. In the left tab, select App Shortcuts. Then click the + sign, and type "New Tab to the Right" (match capitalization), and set it to ⌥⌘T (or whatever you want). You can apply the shortcut to all applications or to Chrome only. I picked "all applications" since I use multiple browsers.
Now you should see this in the Chrome menus:
- File -> New Tab (⌘T)
- Tab -> New Tab to the Right (⌥⌘T)
Personally, I wanted the reverse of this, so I also added an OS shortcut for "New Tab" so I could change that key combo as well, resulting in:
- File -> New Tab (⌥⌘T)
- Tab -> New Tab to the Right (⌘T)
I ended up installing the Duplicate Tab Shortcut extension, which allows me to use shift+option+d to duplicate the current tab and the duplicated tab appears to the immediate right of the previous tab.
Update: This extension also supports a keyboard shortcut to open a new blank tab directly to the right of the current tab! Thanks @Oliver Joseph Ash for pointing that out.
