Just ordered the 16e and will have to get a new case. Looking for hands down the best drop protection. Been using the otterbox defenders for many years but they've gotten outrageously expensive lately. Wondering if there's anything else out there that does as good a job for less.
Note that all I care about is drop protection. I've dropped my previous phones numerous times onto concrete and the defenders have absolutely without a doubt saved my screen on multiple occasions. Don't care how dorky it looks, how big it is, etc. Just that it saves my phone from drops and doesn't cost a fortune.
Also, is it possible to get a used case and have it fit the 16e? Like for example could I get a used defender for the iphone 15 and use that with the 16e? Or does that cross compatibility only apply to the current generation of cases?

I bought two Otterbox Defenders for my 16E, and they’ve both been very glitchy. The first one wouldn’t let me use the volume buttons and the second one , Instead of locking the screen, takes a screen shot and/or siri activates, but won’t lock the screen.

I bought the rhino shield bumper as a kickstarter pledge. It worked really well for me. I had no complaints. Minimal case design with protection from drops. I can’t say anything about it now as I don’t know how they are now. It looks like it’s now branded as the “crashguard” case. I think when I bought my last phone I opted to go naked for the first time and not get any covering as I rarely drop my phone… and tbh I have not have anything serious happen when I have dropped it.
