I want get get 3-4 houseplants for my apartment. Where is the best place in Sac for this? I want to support local businesses but don't want to pay crazy prices. I see lots of online options including HomeDepot, Ace, and even Amazon.

I just moved to Midtown and I have way more outdoor space than I anticipated! I would love to fill my balcony with plants! I don’t have a massive budget, and I don’t drive!

Ah.. I'm in Arden Arcade, but if you can make it up here I can give you some cuttings. There is also a really awesome place called Find Out Farms in South sac that sells native plants. I got some really awesome plants from them, including milkweed and California currants. They also have free seeds if you want to grow stuff yourself. They do events in the city sometimes too so that might be an option for you. Another place to get free seeds is public libraries.

Grocery outlet and 99 cent stores (the purple one, not so much dollar tree) are underrated for plants. Sometimes you get a great deal, sometimes they look sad and need some help. Doesn’t hurt to check ‘em out!

Been to Talia’s, the green acres locations, native plant nursery on broadway, superbum … where am I missing? Looking for plants for outdoors and lots of selection in native perennials.
Just went to to UC Davis plant sale and was wildly underwhelmed. I grew up near Rutgers in NJ and thier Ag program plant sale kicks Davis’ ass…. No offense! I was shocked at how little stock there was.
My favorite spot is Poots Cactus in Ripon for their fair pricing, selection and diversity of plants. They only do cactus though so I need the equivalent for landscaping!

Secret Garden off 99 before Sheldon. It’s my favorite in the area to just browse through. Also, shot out to Big Oak nursery in EG. They didn’t have the sedum I was looking for and ordered it for me. Poots was cool to walk around. I’ve gotten a mix of native stuff from Davis plant sales, friends and Green Acres.

Are you part of the Arboretum membership? A lot of times they hold pre sales that get most of the good stuff for those UCD sales. The plant foundry is somewhat limited, but tend to have more outdoor plants than a lot of places around the grid that mostly have indoor plants You might want to take a peek at the Prickly Pear too. It’s mostly cactus’ also, but it’s in a neat space and I’m sure they’d have better leads for you
