DIY Outdoor Table Plans - Pine and Poplar
August 18, 2023 - *We built our table using 2x6x8 pine boards and cut them down on our table saw to be the size of 2x4s and 2x2s. You can do this or buy the lumber that’s already the correct dimensions as specified in the cut list. Cutting down 2x6s will give your wood a more squared-off look, but requires more work. You’ll need (6) 2x6x8s if you go this route. Not sure if pine is the right choice for you? Read this before using pine on outdoor projects. Get the complete cut list in the printable plans. How To Make a Wooden Patio Table - IBUILDIT.CA
March 10, 2019 - Tell me, do you want your back deck to look like the outdoor patio at your local fast food joint, or do you want it to have some nice, warm inviting appeal that doesn’t come from textured tempered glass and powder coated aluminum? Wood is and always has been the answer. This patio table is made from cedar, but can be made from many different types of wood, or even composite material, if you like that.

r/BeginnerWoodWorking on Reddit: Wood for Outdoor Table Top?
September 4, 2024 -

I’m looking to make a simple outdoor table top (I already have some stainless steel legs) and I was astonished by the lack of outdoor suitable wood options… what are you all doing for outdoor furniture?

I can get cedar for $7.70 per board foot for rough cut, but even that is like $400 of lumber just for an 8’ table top.

EDIT: For those downvoting both me and the commenters… why? What about this wood species selection post has offended you? Please just downvote me and not the kind folks responding. Thanks!
