July 7, 2015 - Go for the armor, and craft the pickaxe when you get into the Corruption/Crimson's boss. ... I usually just skip all the early tier metals since killing the eye and the eater will deck you out in full demonite, and all you really need to kill the eater is decent health and a ton of molotovs. Platinum Armor would do you more good than a pickaxe though.
