Both You have official songs like any other streaming service, but you also have videos from YouTube that you can listen to, so if you like a remix of a song that is only on a YouTube video and not on streaming services, you can only listen to it on YouTube Music. This is also good for songs from more obscure artists. You can also watch the music video of a song, unlike other streaming services. There is, however, a small consequence with this. Unlike other streaming services, YTM must abide by COPPA in a different way, so if you ever listen to a kid song, you cannot browse other things. This is a small complaint, and I only know this because I felt like listening to songs from my childhood for nostalgia. More on reddit.com

If youtube music is the replacement for google play music, why did they remove background play. This just seems ridiculous, its just a downgrade, and they even remove google play music entirely

Because they wanted it to be paid on iOS, they also had to make it paid on Android otherwise they would have caught a ton of shit. The leadership at Google sucks. PS: I pay for YT premium to remove ads which also gets me YT music. But screwing over GPlay Music people is characteristic of the new Google. No vision expect for short term gains.

It kinda sucks?? I want to switch from Spotify as their ethics suck (no companies are great, I'm aware, but I already have YT Premium). But YT Music is just sad, and I'm sure this has been said a lot and most people are aware of some glaring issues. In the couple of days I've been using the app, I've found a few really annoying missing features.

No search in playlist

No mixing local files and "online" files in a playlist

"Add to queue" doesn't work as it adds songs to the bottom of a huge pre-made list. Only option is "play next" but that will keep pushing the first song further down as you "play next" more songs in succession.

Lack of customisation, no gapless/crossfade, volume stabiliser etc.
Maybe SoundCloud or Apple Music will work better?

I am new user using it for months. I just listen to the song tracks and let infinity leads its way. I sometimes use playlists but rarely create playlist for my self.

Hi all,I just resolved my issue by switching from the sub account (which I use) to the main account (which I don’t use).In YTM, sub accounts work the same way as main accts. It’s too bad there’s no messaging along the way that warns users that using any sub acct under the main acct for the premium subscription won’t allow premium features on Sonos.Issue resolved. Thanks all!
