Do you regret installing porcelain tile?
At my shop/office, we put wood look tile in our showroom. I wanted something that would hold up to dirty boots, sliding chairs, deliveries, and general hard use while being easy to clean. When I show customers our LVP displays, they point down and ask all the time “Which one is this?” And I have to tell them it’s actually tile. More on reddit.com
Thoughts on this for a bathroom floor - glossy porcelain mosaic. Too slippery (have little kids)?
You would be fine with this. The grout joints would give you grip. I have installed a ton of glossy porcelain in bathrooms. And polished porcelain mosaics for shower floors. More on reddit.com
Polished porcelain tile on bathroom floor?too slippery?
Every tile has a COF (coefficient of friction) rating between 0 and 1. You want a high COF for a wet area and higher for elderly. Like .6 or higher. You are right to question your friend's choice, have him look for tiles that are rated for showers. More on reddit.com
Shower floor tile help: ceramic vs porcelain
Tile are rated for a reason. One is slip liability, if the tile is too slippery when its wet, then thats ur fault. Also hardness, the hardness of a tile is important when being walked on. Ceramic tile is certainly ok to be walked on if the rating says so. So in conclusion- do want you want, but honestly don’t do it. Pick out a nice shower floor rated porcelain mosaic for the floor and incorporate it in the walls somewhere as a design feature. More on reddit.com

Ceramic vs. Porcelain Tile: Which Is Better?
Which tile is better for kitchen floors: ceramic or porcelain?
Because kitchens are high-traffic areas that are prone to liquid spills, porcelain is a better choice for kitchen floors and countertops. Ceramic tile is a good choice for backsplashes, though, since it’s available in more colors and textures.

r/Homebuilding on Reddit: Do you regret installing porcelain tile?
October 1, 2023 -
I’m torn between porcelain tile and either LVP or waterproof laminate (I can’t find a significant difference between these two). Although more expensive, I’ve learned from research that porcelain tile with withstand just about anything before an earthquake, and should last a lifetime.
Has this been your experience with porcelain tile? If not, what do you wish you had installed instead?
