I can confirm. One year my parents bought a new fridge from Lowe's during their Labor day sale, or some holiday like that. Fridge was listed as $1800 on sale for $1500. A few weeks later my dad saw in the paper the same fridge, from the same Lowe's, normally priced for $1300. Heard online somewhere to use reverse image look up to find a history of online shops selling of an item to get a good idea of what it usually goes for. I haven't tried it yet myself but might be a good place to start. More on reddit.com

January 9, 2022Looking for a Website that Tracks Historical Prices of Items Across the Internet
In concept there are a lot of price comparison websites , but itโs often country specific and only for bigger items. In Germany there would be Preisvergleich.de/Idealo/billiger.de, in Japan kakaku.com. Random lis t of some who exist in the US. Not sure which are relevant players though. Most price comparison websites show the comparison only, and only when you go into the the product details you can see the price history. So if you can find a way to smoothly display multiple histories next to each other, that would be quite nice. More on reddit.com

Referring to the recent posts on this sub about strategies to spend less in sales and avoid being tempted by the deals, here are some tools that I personally use to help me understand how "good" a deal actually is.
These tools are basically price trackers with chrome extensions and options to notify you when a price drops and work across Amazon or Flipkart. This way you can plan what you need well in advance, set a tracker, check during sale period whether price has actually dropped and then take decision accordingly.
https://pricehistory.app/ - The UI is pretty good, tracks price consistently of most products I've tried and has filtering options in graph too. Chrome Extension is good too
https://www.pricebefore.com/ is a decent one too incase the first one doesn't help
Sometimes we want to compare prices across websites and its difficult for non-branded products. For those I use pricee.com or cheapshops.in
Just to clarify, I'm in no way affiliated to any websites shared. Just mentioning some I use personally.
