The list is public but that doesn't make it insecure. What makes it secure is the length (4+ word passphrase for main password) and the kdf (use Argon2). Look up diceware. Is there a reason you're using passphrases as opposed to passwords? Passphrases should be used where you can't copy and paste or autofill. Passwords offer greater strength character for character. Hello everyone,
As the title said, I am questionning potential security concerns about the password generator : indeed, I've been using Bitwarden for a year I think, and always used this feature.
However, as I've mainly used it in passphrase mode, I'm wondering if the dictionary & the passphrase layouts used by Bitwarden can be used by hackers to easily bruteforce passwords.

So if we do random characters then each symbol is chosen from say 26 upper and 26 lower case letters plus 10 numbers plus however many symbols so if we don’t include those it’s 62 symbols or just shy of 6 bits per character. So 8 characters is almost 48 bits if randomness. If you switch to words each “symbol” is now a whole word chosen from a dictionary. If we know how big the dictionary is again we can do the same calculation, The only other key is how “random” your selection method is. This is pretty easy to do and standard libraries do a good job. The password generator is local too. The server is not involved.
