We get shlocky weird monster movies all the time that are doo doo cheeks.
Why are people so afraid of branching out and making a good rated R dino movie?
The Jurrasic Park IP doesnt own dinos.. I just dont get it at this point. Im just bored of watered down member berry dino movies.

In a lot of places online when talking about Jurassic Park or other dinosaur movies (especially the recently released (and honestly overhyped) Primitive War), I see a lot of posts wishing for more R-rated dinosaur projects…whether it’s imagining Jurassic Park more closer to its adult, R-rated roots, or just in general. And I’m curious about why?
R-rated (and beyond) dinosaur media does exist, and while some are really great (like the show Primal), majority of them tend to be low-budget schlocky affairs. For me personally, it seems that the R-rating is primarily used to justify either increased amounts of gore, or to allow the humans to use more foul language…but other than that it doesn’t seem to change much about the actual viewing experience. Movies like Jurassic Park, Peter Jackson’s King Kong, and even more kid-friendly options like Disney’s Dinosaur or The Land Before Time can feel scarier and way more intense than most R-rated stuff despite their lower age rating. Plus while there are lots of adult Dino fans, it would be argued that kids seems to be the much larger audience willing to see movies about dinosaurs…making it R-rated cuts off a good portion of your audience.
So question to you guys, more out of curiousity and research is why do you guys want to see an R-rated Dino movie?
Hello! I’m not an avid Jurassic-franchise fan and I’m French which doesn’t help for the attachment I gave–but I saw online that Jurassic World: Rebirth is going to be rated R. So I looked it up online because I didn’t know what that meant, and it seems a little odd to me that they rate a Jurassic movie as an R movie…
Genuine question of course!! But I would like to know if this is a temporary rating, or if it’s going to be the actual rating of the movie. And (if you want) your thoughts on the rating. Thanks in advance.
