February 18, 2021Burned by a garbage 4K RCA TV- any tips before I return?
Walmart, RCA, $300. I mean how many more signs did you need to avoid that tv? Especially as a patron of this forum? Anyways, cheaper tvs will have trade offs, image may look good but your gonna be lacking on power and processing. And honestly if you are gonna go cheap at least stick to a low end model from the big names, Samsung, LG, Sony. My girlfriend got a 37" 4k samsung from sams club for under $500. Great tv, has no issues with playing back 4k content. However the trade offs are its slower to start, the apps are slow but work, the image is great but has limits to adjustments so the picture will never be perfect. But if you go budget do your homework. Or best bet, be patient and save money for at least a mid tier tv. LG has a great 65" for $700 that looks fantastic, its fast, and all the apps are snappy, only thing its lacking is real HDR. I waited forever until I got my KS8000 and ended up getting that for $1200 right before they went out of stock. More on reddit.com

40 years ago RCA was good. They sell their name to any Chinese firm these days. Go with a Roku TV if you want a smart tv. Personally I go with non-smart tv's. I have my Roku to deal with everything else.
