Rogue & Gambit - Wikipedia
4 days ago - Rogue and Gambit are one of the most popular couples in the X-Men franchise. Their relationship started in 1990, shortly after Gambit was introduced in comic books, and was a strong aspect of the X-Men TV series. Both characters come from the Southern United States and speak in over-the-top accents and slang.

Relationship Recap: Rogue and Gambit | Marvel
August 3, 2023 - There are plenty of thriving couples among the mutant population in the Marvel Universe, but none with quite the same kinetically charged passion as Rogue (“Anna Marie”) and Gambit’s (Remy LeBeau) fan-favorite romance.

June 17, 2023 -

I am in the middle of the 90s era of my reading order of Gambit, (Yes I started with Uncanny X-Men & know who everyone is, Gambit became my fav & Rogue is my second) It started in X-Men 1991 #3, When Gambit offers to pull her out of the pool and she's shocked he would. This was the last issue Claremont wrote also, Idk why he was surprised they became a couple from that? From what I've read of these two it reads kinda goofy and boring? If Rogue did not have her powers, Why would Gambit like her? If this is your OTP also, Please try not to respond very angrily to this post. I see a lot of fanart of these two and I know they look very cute together but these two are both my fav x-men characters, and I just want to talk about these two normally, I'd also be ok with them just being friends as well.

What begins as an innocent flirtation and even a “challenge” in the 90’s comics really evolves to love as you move forward in the arcs. These are two characters that don’t open up to other people. Despite how toxic their relationship was at times in the books, as you read on past the 90’s you see that they really become each others “person.” Gambit seems like the cool guy trying to pick up everyone woman he meets, but I always read his charming carefree attitude as a facade. He’s a dude that comes across as carefree and promiscuous, but actually he cares a lot, and is a dude that falls in love hard (I think he’s the only Marvel character who has been married twice). I think they were cemented about 10 years ago in the comics. That was when they were both seeing other people, but they would miss each other and cross paths to occasionally help each other out. Rogue even refers to Gambit as her best friend from time to time. Nobody else can really compare to their history. …sorry for the long post.

both of the characters are loners/will isolate themselves, so when Gambit pursues Rogue and refuses to back down, i think for her thats something not a lot of people have done, causing her to fall for him for Gambit…the reasons a lot harder. but i dont think you necessarily need a reason to fall in love with someone. i think for him, he initially was just attracted, (and her being the one thing he can’t touch definitely helped) but over time he came to care for her more emotionally. it’s not a “i love her for this reason” type thing, i see it as a “i love her simply because i love being around her” i never saw their relationship as a physical thing, in fact the reason i like it so much is because i see it as two people who just have feelings for each other, who dont need to touch. for me, thats what makes their relationship great, rather than the why they love each other

November 3, 2024 - No. Writers have tried to recreate the spark between Rogue and Gambit with others but none have come close. Pretty crazy given that the vast majority of comic book characters often have multiple good relationships to choose from.

October 20, 2025 - And what he did with Rogue is worthy of study, a clear example of character assassination, he destroyed all the development of the previous series to adapt Rogue to his narrative, The truly sad thing about this character is that he went from being one of the most beloved by the public to being one of the most attacked. It's incredible what Beau achieved in just one season. ... Ah yes more X-Men writers who suck at writing Rogue. What else is new I guess. ... Oh this was a nightmare. ... This storyline actually made me drop the show, lmao. Her then acting as if Gambit was “her man” after he died just infuriated the heck out of me.

November 5, 2025 - I wouldn't be surprised if he was an Anniversary character or something. Cyclops is unlucky though, I get why the other X-Men were chosen over him, but the guy needs more respect. lol More replies ... Seeing one of Gambit's playing cards in the Old Hawkeye skin's MVP animation got me so fuckin' hyped. I hope both he and Rogue are a ton of fun to use.

Comic Couples We Love: Rogue & Gambit Are ‘Mr. & Mrs X’
February 11, 2025 - There is drama and stakes: Rogue spends much of the series dealing with changes to her powers, Gambit with his conflicted loyalties, to his wife, his blood-family, and the X-Men, while the Xandra story basically serves as a high-octane, alien-filled version of one of those “do we want to have kids? Let’s see how it goes taking care of this kid who is not our own!” stories into which newlywed characters inevitably get drawn.

Rogue and Gambit in Love: A Look at the Iconic Couple's First Appearance — Comics Bookcase
July 10, 2019 - The reader is given no special reason to care about this new character—except, perhaps, that he’s an active thief; Storm could have been rescued by anyone. Mutants come and go in X-Men, and there is nothing in Uncanny X-Men #266 to suggest Gambit would stick around. ... Mr. and Mrs. X (out July 25) looks to be a sweet chaser to one of the most famous-yet-tumultuous romances in the X-Men world. Over time—and despite mutually rough beginnings—both Rogue and Gambit find a home on the X-Men, and eventually their characters are fleshed out.

A Brief History of X-MEN Power Couple ROGUE & GAMBIT — Nerdist
Rogue was originally a villain and a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants, but she came to the team to learn to control her powers. Visually, she was a very different character back then. Because of her inability to touch people, since she’d drain them of their life force if she did, she was covered head to toe in her costume. The X-Men didn’t trust her at first, but she slowly became a part of the family. Gambit, on the other hand, was introduced some seven years later in Uncanny X-Men, in the summer of 1990.

Gambit and Rogue arent a couple. Their a phase in a relationship put on repeat. They are interesting solely because he likes her and she cant touch him. You could easily replace Gambit in that equation with Colssus and get the same result.

X-Men: How Rogue Touches Gambit Without Hurting Him
March 30, 2024 - Determined to pursue happiness together, the iconic lovers have variously found both short-term, and long-term, solutions to their intimacy problems. The crux of Rogue's character journey, over the course of her X-history, has involved coming to terms with her powers – but often, she has had to control them first. Her love story with Gambit has been among the most effective tools for taking Rogue's story to another dramatic level; in the process, it has proved some of the X-Men franchise's most passionate romantic moments.

r/xmen on Reddit: Any good comics about the dynamic between Rogue and Gambit?
October 3, 2023 -

Hey guys. I could use some help from someone familiar with the X-Men. I haven't read literally any of their comics yet (only a couple of cameo appearances in the old Fantastic Four comics from the 1980s) but I'm familiar with the concept of the team from the films and animated series.

And now, actually, the question. Can you recommend any worthwhile stories about Rogue and Remy? I vaguely remember that there was their personal comic, but that’s where all my knowledge ends. I don't mean just their other solo comics - anything that explores the characters and especially their relationships will do - from one-shots and limited series to arcs in the "main" comic.

The one camp believes it was about ... and at the hypocrisy of the X-Men. They also argue he was picking a fight to avoid answering Rogue's question, deliberately choosing her sorest spot either to infuriate or upset her. The other camp notes that Gambit has a doormat complex, that he usually blames himself for the sins of the universe, that he has not expressed anger when the wound was fresher. Both sides make a strong case for whether Gambit was acting in character when he ...
