My understanding is low supply of available wafers from TSMC as well as very good yields from TSMC. 1 Chiplet = 8 cores by design and there are so few defects that they it makes sense to sell only the 6/8 core variants for more $$$ instead of selling perfectly good 6/8 core chips artificially crippled to 4 cores. Seems overpriced for 400 dollars. You would need to spend like 600 dollars to get a PC equivalent to the PS5, the only advantage I'd see from gaming in this pc is that you can pirate games but the games would be limited since it would be an unpleasant experiance to play even slightly higher end games which would be worse considering that he's a PS5 user and is probably used to high framerates without much tweaking. In my opinion you should ditch the PC and just get him a laptop, it's portable and easily plugible and it'll do editing just fine depending on the software. A ryzen laptop seems like a good idea. Although if he really wants a PC specifically then for 450 dollars I am sure you can get a PC with a good graphics card that can play most games well. More on reddit.com
