Pisses me off I’m on the Asus Tuf Gaming x570-Plus WiFi on the latest bios as of Nov.4,2024 and no PBO2 just PBO under the AI Tweaker tab nothing for PBO2 under the advance tab. I have a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and ALF III 360 Black using the AM4 offset brackets my CPU idles at 28c and never goes over 64c in gaming and I want to utilize that but for some reason it doesn’t offer it meaning PBO2 just PBO and curve optimizer if I use that will I still get the same performance as PBO2 or just leave it be on auto? [SOLVED] - Ryzen 7 5800x driving me crazy | Tom's Hardware Forum
September 4, 2021 - The Ryzen 7 5800X really needs an All In One (AIO) water cooler with a radiator of 240mm minimum, 280mm or bigger is best, to keep the temps down but it will still reach the 90°c mark in heavy loads. The reason you are seeing the temps you are is your cooler really isn't sufficient enough ...

r/AMDHelp on Reddit: How to improve temps with Ryzen 7 5800X
April 30, 2024 -

I am running a Ryzen 7 5800X with the Noctua NH-U12S Redux and a 6950xt. I don’t have any overclock running since I am not familiar with that process. I am getting these max temps while running the latest cinebench, in which I am also underperforming in the CPU multi-core test. CPU idles at ~35C, and averages 85-90C while under benchmark load, with high at 93C (photo). Any tips, or do I just have a toasty CPU?

Ryzen 7 5800X maybe running too hot? | Overclock.net
November 15, 2022 - I tried a good 240 AIO, but the same result occurred. So, I then turned to undervolting it by 0.1V, and now my temperatures are around 80°C at full load in Cinebench. It seems like the 5800X uses a single CCD, which is what makes it so hot.

r/Amd on Reddit: Ryzen 5800x: How to fix high temperatures
February 17, 2021 -

As I got my new Ryzen 5800x I was actually really worried about about temperatures and noisy cooling. However after investigating I found a pretty good solution to fix this problem for me that I would like to share with you.

My System: R7 5800x // Noctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler // MSI B450m Mortar Max with latest BIOS (AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.2.0.0) // 16 GB RAM @ 3600MHz CL16 // RTX 2070 Super

I run optimized timings from the DRAM Calculator with my RAM.

To get temps under control undervolt your CPU as shown in this video with tweaks I added below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfkrp25dpQ0

Settings in the MSI BIOS:

1.) OC -> Advanced CPU Configuration -> AMD Overclocking -> Precision Boost Overdrive -> Advanced

2.) PBO Limits -> Manual -> PPT -> 130 Watt (At around 120 Watt PPT Limit the per core wattage is around the same level as the 5600X)

3.) Curve Optimizer -> All Cores

4.) All Core Curve Optimizer Sign -> Negative

5.) All Core Curve Optimizer Magnitude -> 30 (depends on your silicon, lower this value if your system is unstable)

Applying these values helped bring down temperatures significantly while maintaining performance and achieving higher clock speeds. I achieve a max boost clock single core of up to 4.85 GHz and an all core clock of up to 4.7 GHz. I tested system stability by running prime95 for 30 minutes, multiple CB20 runs and some games. CB r20 scores around +6100 points, reducing the score by about 30-50 points vs no undervolt and PBO limits. Additionally I optimized the fan curve. Temps: Idle around 30°C and under load max 75°C.

Why is my CPU temperature so high? Ryzen 7 5800X at 12% load is 78c. - Quora
Answer (1 of 6): It’s the cooler. Either the fan isn’t running right, not running at all, or the mounting hardware is not completely tight. You’ll have to check the fan to see if it’s running, and if it is then you should remount the cooler. When you go to remount the cooler, you’ll ...

[SOLVED] - Ryzen 7 5800X overheating | Tom's Hardware Forum
January 14, 2022 - The thing about Ryzen CPU's is they overclock themselves if cooled really well. That makes it VERY desireable to throw the rules out and just go for the best cooler you can fit. Big dual fan towers like BeQuiet Dark Rock 4, Scythe Mugen whatever kind of BIG mean you can keep fan speeds fairly low and stay in the 70C range while gaming. When you do that you might find your CPU hitting boost clocks well over 4700Mhz with no other changes. My 5800X hits 4800-4850Mhz while gaming on a 240mm AIO, with curve optimizer it's hitting 5000-5025Mhz.

October 17, 2025 - However, for Zen 3 chips like the 5800X, Tdie and Tctl are generally the same or very close, so focus on Tdie. TjMax: This is the maximum junction temperature, the absolute highest temperature the processor is designed to safely operate at before it begins to throttle performance to prevent damage. For the Ryzen 7 5800X, this critical threshold is 90°C.

Answer (1 of 7): Without additional information, it’s difficult to say for sure. Possible causes: 1. Severe overclock. If you’ve upped the voltage higher than the chip can handle, it will overheat very easily. However, in most cases, this will also cause frequent crashes/instability, which ...
