r/k12sysadmin on Reddit: Help enrolling Android tablets in Google Admin Console
August 27, 2021 -

This year we're trying out Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 in classrooms as a teacher device. They run Android 10.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add these to the admin console as 'company owned devices' for advanced management. All the Google docs say is that I can upload a CSV of serials, but "Android" isn't a device 'type' listed in the uploader. Other device 'types' (I tried "Linux"?) adds the serials to the inventory list, but then they seem not to be recognized differently when I start them?

I'm pretty novice with MDM, but Google tends to do things weirdly too. What am I missing?

EDIT: This is the doc I'm trying to follow, but the "Android" option just isn't as described.
