Seems to be possible to turn this off: Settings -> Privacy -> Find My Location -> OFF Also, I think the reasoning is that if you can scan (say) a roll of paper towels, it wants to be able to show you local prices for those paper towels, i.e. at your local grocery store or whatever. I've got tons of Shop Savvy stories. The big one was when I was with a friend at Home Depot. He needed a dishwasher, but was itching for the more expensive one. I told him about the Shop Savvy application. The display at Home Depot didn't have a barcode, so I put in the name of the dishwasher. In a few seconds it shows up that Best Buy a few miles away had it for $200 cheaper. We talked to the Home Depot rep which verified what I found and eventually price matched it !!! More on reddit.com
