Final Answer: The correct translation of "some books" in Spanish is "unos libros," which indicates an indefinite quantity of books. Therefore, the answer is D. unos libros. This choice aligns perfectly with the meaning of the word "some" in front of a plural noun. ; Explanation: To translate the phrase "some books" into Spanish, we look for the correct indefinite article that corresponds to the plural noun "books." In Spanish, the word for "book" is "libro." When using "some" in front of a plural noun, Spanish often uses the word "unos" to indicate an unspecified number of items. Now, let's analyze the options provided: A. un libro - This translates to "a book," which is singular and not what we're looking for. B. el libro - This translates to "the book," which is also singular and definite. C. los libros - This means "the books," which is plural and definite, but still does not mean "some." D. unos libros - This translates to "some books," which is exactly what we're looking for! Therefore, the correct answer is D. unos libros. This choice correctly reflects both the indefinite nature of "some" and the plural noun "books." Using "unos" before "libros" signifies you are referring to an unspecified quantity of books, rather than a specific number. ; Examples & Evidence: For example, if you wanted to say "some dogs," you would say "unos perros" in Spanish, using "unos" to indicate an indefinite amount. Similarly, "some fruits" would be translated as "unas frutas." In Spanish grammar, the use of indefinite articles such as "un" (for singular) and "unos" (for plural) follows specific rules for expressing the concept of 'some' when describing multiple items. The side bar of this sub has lots of suggestions already. A lot of people also like to begin longer readings in a target language with Harry Potter or any other YA fiction that you’re comfortable with the plot already.

I got back into studying Spanish just now by talking in the classics sub about reading the Iliad and Odyssey in Greek and deciding Id start the process with something not so far out there for me. I went with Cien Años de Soledad, and while Im taking it very slow, thinking about etymology (like the link between cholera the disease and cólera, rage - or how cognates have different levels of frequency in different langages - diáfonos seems to be more prevalent in Spanish than the English diaphonous, but it does have that word), stopping to go study after encountering any grammatical constructions that I didnt fluidly understand, etc. It wouldnt be for everyone, but Im enjoying this a lot more than something simple I can easily be fluid with. I know GGM praised the English translation, but I am already finding small quibbles where I like the way I took the original language more than the translation just a few pages in. I have half a mind at this point to just never read anything in English again, unless it really has to be (I probably wouldnt get translations of Shakespeare), so that Im always practicing and stretching my brain further with something, and I can leverage my desire to read in such a useful way. All that is to say, personally, I think that finding something thats genuinely interesting to you is more important than what ''reading level'' it's at. Genuine interest in the content is the most sincere leverage you're ever going to have to motivate yourself!

I'm definitely not fluent but I could hold a good conversation if the other party is willing to talk a little slower. I would say that I can read better than I can speak though...

I'm looking for more practice in spanish by picking up some books to read over the summer, but I have no idea any well-known latin american authors or what books would be at my level. If you guys have any suggestions, my favorite genres are usually fantasy or magical realism! anything that's not super complicated/flowery language so i'm not always having to look up words or phrases would be fantastic.

edit: gracias por todas sus sugerencias! I will definitely be sure to check all of them out, even if I can’t read them all!
