I have the Sony NWE394 which I love since it works perfectly with my Kia Sportage Hybrid when connected with usb (hassle free unlike other non-Sony I tried). I'm looking to buy another Sony mp3 player to carry around while I leave the other in the car connected. I would like it to have good bluetooth to connect with wireless headphones. Anyone know a good Sony mp3 player that has good bluetooth? I'd prefer if it wasn't over $200.
Childhood Sony Walkman, but with Bluetooth?
What are some good sony mp3 players that also have bluetooth for headphones?
Sony Walkman NW-A105 Thoughts/Review
I am actually not a fan of this device.
There are a couple of things that are real killers about this one. One is that the screen is way too small to be pleasant, especially after you come from something like the Galaxy Z fold 3.
The other is that although it sounds really good and the audio circuitry and power circuitry are what I'm looking for in a DAP, the battery life just isn't good especially if you're listening to hi-res music on it. it will just kill it if you turn those features on and have Wi-Fi on and have bluetooth on. so it is not good for use with Bluetooth headphones. It's good if you store music on it you can then get a couple of hours out of it without worrying about it too much, but it still is limited battery wise to be comfortable and it is awkward to use compared to other devices so I stopped using it in favor of using my phone with a Bluetooth DAC in the scenarios where I would try to want to use a DAP.
The other thing is it has extremely limited internal memory of 16GB, which tends to be a problem with pretty much everything. it's constantly warning me about having low space of 2 GB no matter how I try to move stuff over to SD card, because I use Tidal and Tidal needs to store a cache of commonly used files on the main storage and it doesnt help to try to change the settings to have it store elsewhere it still has to store a cache on that main Drive. and then the performance with Tidal is just not good either; it is unfortunately very slow to load anything in the tracks section after you get enough tracks; which is not like its behavior on any other device I have so it it's kind of dead for me as a result.
It's probably not a problem if you don't rely on streaming services, but since I do, it's just not workable since my phone is a far better experience. Also in my use case it is kind of a device that I would only use for lying in bed or on the go and I can deal with the loss of sound quality of just using Bluetooth headphones and my phone when I am on the go and when I'm lying in bed I just use my Hugo 2 in BT mode with my phone. I have a dedicated listening station with a proper desktop app at my desk, the rather incredible Sony elevated standard headphone amp TA ZH1ES; when I sit at my desk, so I don't really tend to use it there either.
I thought about getting one of the new M2 devices because they might be a bit better but they're priced so highly in the audiophile range that I just don't think it's worth it when I have all this other equipment that is just as good if not better.
Also, I was able to scratch the front screen really easily, which kind of pissed me off. I feel like it is not up to the standard of modern phones in that way.

Hey everyone, recently I've been looking into getting a modern MP3 Player that has Bluetooth so that I can have all my music on a portable device, and use my Bluetooth speaker and headphones. I don't have a Spotify or any other music streaming service subscription, so I don't have a need for internet connection. I just have alot of music I ripped from CDs on my computer, and I want to listen to the music I own instead of skipping ads on YouTube every other song I'm streaming.
I grew up with Sony Walkman products, and I liked having tactical buttons and a basic UI interface. While researching online, I became overwhelmed with the amount of options, prices, and audiophile lingo. Or I would find something I like, but then people in the comments would say, "but the Bluetooth range is crap," or "you need specific software to add music," or other things that made me skeptical of the product.
I would gladly appreciate product recommendations, or directions on where to look. Thank you.
