The Lost World: Jurassic Park

Hi all, I know that The Lost World: Jurassic Park got rereleased after a year with an extra level and less brutal difficulty.

My question is, was this only in the North American region? All I can find online is that the "Greatest Hits" rerelease was actually the Special Edition (unusually for Greatest Hits, which is usually just a cheaper repackaging). Here in Europe the equivalent of Greatest Hits is called Platinum, but I can't find any info on whether it was the same story with the European Platinum edition of the game.

Having finished all the games in the Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection, I want to keep this nostalgia trip going and I'd rather get hold of the Special Edition if I can.

Spielberg knows that he will not be able to reproduce the wonder of the first part, he compensates for this by offering us a masterful staging.

For me, the film is more inventive in terms of direction than its predecessor, it is teeming with ideas.

The sequence where the T-rex slowly puts its head into Sarah and Kelly's tent is simply sensational, Spielberg perfectly understood how to establish a climate of tension, which builds crescendo and how to iconicize his creature.

We can also note the sequence of the raptors in the tall grass which is brilliantly done. We do not distinguish them very well at first but we see their tracks approaching their prey from all sides, before jumping on them.

As other strong scenes we can note the opening scene, the guy who gets killed by the compsognatus, the dinosaur safari or the T-rex in the streets of San Diego.

But THE ultimate scene of the film, the most iconic, which everyone agrees on, even the detractors of the work, is of course the attack on the caravan at the edge of the cliff by the two T-rexes.

How can I find the words to tell you about it?

This scene is fifteen minutes of pure tension.

It is clearly the most spectacular sequence I have seen in my life.

It is the first big attack scene of the film, you have to wait a long time before it happens but it is worth it, it is a feast for the eyes.

The direction is great, we are stressed for our heroes, stuck in this caravan which is suspended in the void and which is sliding.

Then the moment when Sarah falls on the window which breaks is terrible and so nerve-wracking.

The music is also very effective and blends perfectly with the sequence.

Seeing this when you are little, it leaves its mark, it forged my passion for the seventh art.

The characters are also very enjoyable to follow.

Ian Malcolm is great, we are shown a more human portrait of him than in the first one, he is touching and very funny at times.

Roland Tembo, the dinosaur hunter, is extremely charismatic, all his lines are striking. He is first presented as a villain, then he is humanized over the course of the feature film.

The music is also superb.

It is very different from the theme of Jurassic Park.

It has a darker atmosphere, John Williams admirably manages to make us feel in the middle of the wilderness.

Yes the film has flaws, there is a big hole in the script, we are never told what happened on the boat and the escape of the T-rex is poorly brought.

We sometimes feel that certain scenes have been cut. The characters refer to the character of Ajay, who is supposed to be important when we have almost never seen him.

But these problems are minor compared to all the qualities of the work. I really don't understand why the reviews on this movie are so mixed, for me it's a great sequel, as good as the original and so generous with the viewer. I really insist on the fact that there are two great "Jurassic Park" movies. The saga ends after this one for me.
