June 16, 2023Ok, anyone here, explain to me, Why, exactly, did The Mummy(2017) flop?
It's a movie without identity. The subject is not a trend so it needed more to be a memorable movie and in the end it doesn't work as horror, is nothing more than generic in action, the writing is not really great, the characters are not charming and the cast although talented is just not well for most. What makes a good monster movie is the carying and attention, stablishing good motivations, generating strong feelings and understanding the subject. What we saw in 2017 was a mechanic atempt to make a franchise movie, think it less as the classic mummy movie and more as one of it sequels More on reddit.com

Should have made the Dark Universe period pieces. You can still have Tom Cruise make him Van Helsing. Each film he is following a different phenomenon until the last one being a confrontation with Dracula. Make them seem like an old Hammer series. More on reddit.com
