I'm currently in the market for a P16 Gen 2, lower specs (i.e., lower spec GPU). Given that it is January 2024, I'm wondering: Should I wait until (probably) May to buy a Gen 2?
This will be my first ThinkPad, as I'm currently writing this on an old Surface Book 2.
Additionally, I haven't seen any info/leaks regarding the P16 Gen 3, and to get some info from the enthusiasts here would be beneficial.

If you are fine waiting, you could wait for the Gen 3 to come out. Hopefully, the Gen 2 will have a decent discount by that time. If you don't want to wait, have you taken a look at the P16v? That model would be cheaper and has an AMD option available (if you are interested in AMD). I wouldn't recommend getting a P16 without the vapor chamber cooler since those HX CPUs run hot. Unfortunately, the vapor chamber is only available with the RTX 3000, 4000, and 5000 GPUs. All other GPU options come with regular heat pipes.

Have you considered a gen 1? There are some good deals out there for a top spec gen 1 as cheap or cheaper than a low spec gen 2.
