We started having issues popping up randomly where users in our offices reported a loss of video through their Lenovo USB-C "Gen 2" docks. After a bunch of reading of Lenovo's forums, it sounds like this has been going on for at least a couple years now.
Their dock firmware does the update in several sections, launching different utilities in sub-folders from a batch file or main "launcher" application. And if any one piece fails, it results in the dock reporting it successfully updated to the current version -- but part of it is non-functional.
I believe our issue stems from certain versions of the Intel integrated video drivers on our mix of Lenovo notebooks causing conflicts with their updater.
Lenovo's responses to these issues seem less than helpful. Basically, they just tell people to RMA the docks. (All of ours are out of warranty already.)
Has anyone found a way to force the Lenovo firmware updater to re-flash a dock without checking its version first? A "/force" type option seems like such a basic thing, and can't believe Lenovo doesn't support it somehow?

It seems as if Lenovo has removed the firmware for the USB-C Gen 2 dock. https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/accessories/acc500106
The support page is still up, however scrolling down to Drivers and Software, and then clicking the firmware button provides the following link:

Is anyone aware of where to find the firmware for the dock? This is pretty frustrating!
I've posted this on the Lenovo forum and r/thinkpad but got no help so I'll try here:
I bought a Thinkpad USB-C dock (40A9) for my X1 Yoga gen 3 (20LE). I noticed it didn't detect the displays so I tried to update the FW both through downloading it through Lenovo's site and using Lenovo Vantage.
The ThinkPad USB-C Dock FW Utility is unable to update the FW. If I check the current FW I get ThinkPad USB.C DP Hub version can't be checked! Please power cycle the Dock to try again. (which i have done with no results.)
Just updating it without checking leads to Update timeout, please remove all devices from the Dock, and reboot computer to try again. Needless to say I've done this with no results.
Lenovo Dock Manager tried to update the fw but failed. After that it said that firmware is up to date but in the field where it shows current firmware it says nothing, just a blank row.
I read somewhere that using a 135W adapter instead of a 95W fixed the issue for them, but didn't work for me.
Does anyone have any ideas what to do next? I'm kinda nervous about buying another dock seeing how this one is working so far. Thanks in advance!
Customer complains about issues with his new Thinkpad E15 Gen2 with USB-C Dock Gen2 ( 40AS0090EU). After login, displays stay black and nothing works until he removes and plug in the USB-C cable. After some hours, the same thing happens again.
We have bought two docks and with both of them, the problems happens. We switched the USB-C cable, same problem happen.
However, for 1-2 days we have used the dock from another employee which has an older firmware. There were no issues with it. Maybe there are some problems with the newest firmware?
Current firmware is V1.0.6.06161 from Juny 2020. I don't find any link to an archive or older firmware. Where can I get the older firmware and is it even possible to downgrade?

Any other tips about this? It seems we are not the only people who have this kind of issues with this dock. However, there are other employees with Thinkpads and USB-C Dock Gen2 where everything works fine.
On USB-C Dock Gen 2 two external monitors are connected to Display Port. However when laptop (T14s) is connected to the docking LAN, USB ports are available except those two external monitors. All the drivers updated by System Update. Laptop has Windows 10.
What can be the issue here? What step I could take to troubleshoot it?
