Hi all. My current laptop is an hp pavillion g6 with 6gb rm. I'll be out of space soon and am looking particularly for lenovo laptops now. My first choice was the XPS 15 but I saw so may negative reviews about it that I got turned off. My minimum requirement is a laptop with 16-32 GB RAM and an i7 processor. For GPU probably anything(haven't given this much thought tbh). I wanted to know what is the different between the series and what is your experiences with them.

You don't need an i7. Almost always you don't. This has been true since there were i5 vs i7 laptops.

There is no 2018 ThinkPad in the X/P/T series which can't be equipped with at least 16GB RAM. Only the slotless machines (X280,X1 Carbon Gen 6 and the X1 Yoga Gen 3) stop this low, everything else has at least one slot and then the world is your oyster: 32GB modules are finally available so 40GB (one slot+8GB soldered to MB on the T480s), 64GB (two slots, T480, P1, X1E), 128GB (four slots on the P52/P72) is possible.
You need to specify other criteria.
The XPS 15 equivalent is the X1 Extreme. Since you didn't state physical size, CPU, GPU, or any preferences, it's impossible to give further advice.
I need buy a laptop for school in a design field and have decided on a Thinkpad, but am a bit confused on several points. I will be running intensive 3D modeling and rendering software including Rhino, Solidworks, and Keyshot, along with Adobe programs (mostly Photoshop and Indesign, I expect.) I have been looking at mobile workstations.
I was about to pull the trigger on a T15g that I decided on last night, but when I came back to the page today, a sale had ended and the price had gone from 1,800ish to 2,200ish. I really want to stay under 2k, so I am reconsidering.
My confusion mainly stems from the GPUs. I know I need a good dedicated graphics card for the work I'll be doing, but most of the GPUs in the Thinkpads don't show up on sites. For example, is a "GeForce RTX 2070 Super with Max-Q 8GB," substantially different than a "Quadro T500 4GB"? In what ways are they different? How much does this difference matter? I had been thinking that I definitely needed a 8GB GPU, but I'm not quite sure about that any more.
At first, I was set on UHD, but is it that noticeably better than FHD? How important is the greater resolution to design work?
I know I need i7 or greater and 16GB or more memory.
Any of these points that someone could speak to, I would appreciate. Thank you!
TL;DR: Getting totally bogged down in the specs looking at laptops. Particularly confused about GPUs -- how much dedicated memory is necessary for 3D software? Not sure how much screen resolution is noticeable/matters.
so i am looking for a thinkpad and i am kinda lost with the naming series of all of the thinkpads , can anyone pls break it down for me? i did some reserch and found the x1 is considerd the best but i cant find much info weather the T/E series r good, or if which is better than the other. Can anyone help me out ?
I was just wondering what the differences were between the letters.
For example: T4xx vs T4xxS vs T4xxP vs X2xx vs E2xx vs L2xx, etc.
Thanks!
