Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 (2021)
There's one ultraportable we admire as much (the Dell XPS 13 OLED), but there's no business laptop we admire more than Lenovo's latest ThinkPad X1 Carbon. As good as it gets...gets a bit better

Review: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen 9), the 2021 model
July 28, 2023 - Initially, the i7 11th generation CPU seems very snappy. Partially, Windows 11 brings more snappiness to the overall experience. The 14″ display is not too small – but it could have been larger. I kept waiting for the 16″ ThinkPad, but it’s still months away, so perhaps my future upgrade will have a larger display.

r/thinkpad on Reddit: Thoughts on Lenovo carbon x1 gen 9?
December 25, 2022 -
Going out to buy a new laptop for University, so far, what are your thoughts on the Lenovo carbon x1 gen 9?
I’ve read through reviews and there is a lot of positive feedback...
Money range would probably be at around 2k, I’m thinking core i7 and some good ram 16 to 32GB, storage should be 256-512 GB, or 1TB... it should also have good battery life and a nice, easy to use keyboard
I mostly need specs that will go good with University essays, assignments and school work, and specs that would work well for novel writing...
video game performance is not necessary but I would like to have a laptop that can run a few games too
basically a laptop for multitasking which can handle A LOT of tabs open at once without ruining performance

Don't buy it. Have had so many issues with it. You will regret it. I do. Unreliable. Glitchy. When it works, it's wonderful. Unfortunately, there are many times when it doesn't. Battery doesn't charge. Updated the BIOS. Goes to sleep if you stop using it after 30 seconds no matter how much you adjust the settings. Then it only wakes if you open and close the lid. Doesn't start and have to do a hard reset. Now I have the Lenovo black screen of death where the screen doesn't turn on at all. All this in a laptop that sits on my home desk and never goes out and does only basic web based tasks and is less than 2 years old. Total waste of money on what I though was a premium laptop brand. I'm going back to Dell where I have never had the type of problems I'm experiencing with this piece of junk.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon
Now that the ThinkBook 13x is out of the way, I can focus my attention on the other laptop Lenovo lent me: the 2021 Thinkpad X1 Carbon. I’ll admit, with laptops this small, my expectations drop due to the limited space. But this 2021 ThinkPad X1 Carbon exceeded my expectations. I could easily use this device as a primary computer, especially while on the road. Considering how well it performs, the stellar inputs, all the configuration options, and the battery life, there’s little to complain about.

X1 Carbon Gen 9 Hands-On Review - Thinkpads Forum
I see the configuration on the Gen 9 X1 I would get is very expensive like almost $3,400 I wanted it with the vPro in 7 11th gen CPU, 32GB RAM, 1TG SSD, WWAN, non-4K display. If prices are to go down I would have definitely gotten a Gen 9. Thank you for your review. ...
