December 7, 2023 - I am not really sure what I am doing but it worked. I had to add an extra record, as mentioned in this page that I share. That solved it. Under the @ records I added a TXT with TTL:300 and in the data field I used the code that Squarespace gives you with a lot of letter and numbers (under host, type CNAME).

Click the Verify Information button after you've reviewed the information. When your domain is pending verification, the domain in your domains dashboard will have an "Action Required" status.

Squarespace will sometimes ask you to add an extra CNAME record for verification. If they tell you to do this and you don’t add it, Squarespace will show a message saying something like “This website is pending domain owner verification”.

Note: Your site may display a “This website is pending domain owner verification” message for up to 48 hours. This is normal and means that your domain is populating across the internet.
