So if you have a higher budget you can get some great stuff. And you can still find gems. I would suggest going to Andersonville, it's a little east of where you'll be staying, and they have a ton of stores. Check out Brown Elephant for really good deals, though less vintage, it's sort of like an upscale Goodwill; Wooly Mammoth for macabre vintage; and round it out with Merchant M, roost, and andersonville antiques for some good but expensive stuff. I’m moving to Chicago this winter and I’m really excited! I’ve lived in Milwaukee my entire life and I can’t wait to get out of here. I’ve been a thrifter since I was a kid and it’s one of my favorite things to do on the weekend. The thrift game in Milwaukee is okay, the stores I went to when I was younger have definitely been depleted by resellers and there isn’t as much good stuff anymore. I usually drive out to the suburbs now to look for better finds.
I’m wondering if any frequent thrifters can rate or review the thrifting in Chicago. I’m planning on moving to the Ravenswood/Lincoln Square/Uptown area but I will be bringing a car. I’m not a reseller, just someone who loves vintage stuff and the thrill of the chase!

my favorite is safari second thrifts store in north park. you gotta dig but i always find cool little treasures! Also amvets and the consignment classic store in mission hills! point loma has a pretty nice salvation army boutique, (but yuck for salvation army) also the ob thrift store and humble heart on newport in ocean beach are great!!
