How to Calculate Tile Needed for your Bathroom – Mercury Mosaics
Read about this project with our blog "Black Diamonds - Inspiring Bathroom Tile." Showers can easily be three rectangular sections, but if you have a niche, that's a few extra sections to keep track of. While it's more to calculate, our labeling system will help your calculations stay organized and simple.

Help calculating how much tile I need - am I missing something here?
Generally with rectangles it’s better to break it down by width and height- ie - 263 / 6 is about 44 tiles wide, 19/3 is about 7 tiles tall (rounding up) 7x44 308. Add 10% for breakage and whatnot. More if you have lots of things to cut around. 400 def seems too high. More on reddit.com

'Formula' for calculating building length necessary for equal bedroom lengths
((X + 1) * Y) + 1 X = width of room interior Y = number of rooms If all of your rooms are just lined up then along that axis each room would have one wall, save for the room on the end which is why you have +1 at the end of the equation. I'm at work right now, but when I get home I will post a picture describing this better. More on reddit.com

How many tiles are in Runescape?
It's pretty easy to estimate. I got an image of the world map that is 3713x3329 pixels. The pier in Port Sarim is 54 pixels wide on that map. In game, it's 26 tiles, so it's approximately 2 pixels per tile. So 1789x1603 = 2.867.767 tiles on the surface world. That's a lot! It's approximately 40% water so there are 1.7 million land tiles. How do I work out the length of the spaces between all the tiles on my walls?
800 cm x 45 cm = 36000 cm² If there were no gaps, you could get away with 360 tiles. Adding 10% for waste gives you around 400 tiles. Laying them in a diamond pattetn, you may want to start at the center of the wall and build out from there. Each tile will measure around 14.14 cm across the diagonal. At 45 cm in height, you basically will have 3 tiles tall with gaps in between them of width w * sqrt(2), where w will be the space between adjacent tiles. 45 = 3 * 10 * sqrt(2) + 2 * sqrt(2) * w 45 - 30 * sqrt(2) = 2 * sqrt(2) * w 15 * (3 - 2 * sqrt(2)) / (2 * sqrt(2)) = w w = 15 * (3 * sqrt(2) - 4) / 4 w = 3.75 * (3 * sqrt(2) - 4) w = 0.9099... So if you spaced it out around 9mm or 1cm between each tile, you'd be pretty close to what you're looking for. Think of each tile now taking up a space of 11cm x 11cm 36000 cm² / (121 cm² per tile) = 297.52 tiles = 300 tiles Again, add anywhere from 10% to 15% to account for broken or unusable tiles, mistakes, and waste material. 345 tiles might do ya, or whatever number you can get that's closest to that More on reddit.com
