Im very picky and I think I am similar to your friend’s tastes. I love my nerdy fandoms but I cringe at almost everything geared towards fans. I want things that are well made, classy, and not childish or tacky. Some exceptions have existed, but generally, I feel embarrassed by some gifts geared towards HP (and all the other major franchises.) And frankly, some items have been ruined for me because I hate the logos and HARRY POTTER, TMs, etc., plastered on some perfectly adorable or otherwise desirable item I would buy. A discrete tag or well placed and classy logo wouldn’t bother me, but with so many things, it’s all my eye is drawn to. So, here’s what I would want! There is a company that created the actual wardrobes used on set and you can buy your own Hogwarts gear! Scarves, vests, etc. It’s well made and not tacky or costume-y. Lochhaven international. It looks like the same stuff Warner Bros sells on its online shop within your budget! They’re pricey, but you might find a sale right now for Jim Kay’s illustrated HP books. They are beautiful and classy. You could get your friend’s favorite book of the series. Additionally, I adore the HP line at Pottery Barn. It’s PB Teens, but let’s be real - the target audience is really millennials who can buy a $400 Nagini mirror. More on reddit.com
