what are some good password ideas?
I have mine in 5 sections: What I'm logging into (eg. Reddit) A random keyword (eg.secure) A number substitution for a letter (eg. Swapping e for 1) The number of the password (so if it's new, 01, or if I've just had to reset it, move it to 02) Random symbols at the end (eg. #) So Reddit password might be: R1ddits1cur101# This means it's near impossible for anyone to guess, but if needed I can guess my way through. Does that make sense? More on reddit.com

Create long complex passwords that are easy to remember!
InfoSec dudes always told me length is just as secure as the special characters, etc. So their advice for people was pick a phrase that uses the whole of the 14-28 character limit. My VP told me he tends to uses expletives. So for instance for Gmail his password may be: FuckingGmailBullshit2023. His favorite was for a program at work he hated with a passion so his former password was: IFuckingHateYouMuthafucker1 His goal was for something to so screw-up the desktop guys needed to ask for his password lol More on reddit.com

LPT: How to generate a secure password that you can remember.

Better yet, add something unique about the site instead of having a single password for everything. You can add the first two letters of the site to the password. For Amazon your password becomes A1d,mgtm2tb&IhfM when you add A to the beginning and M on the end.

Each password should be unique, meaning it is not used for any other account. It should also not have any personal information, like dates, names, or the user’s favorite car.

r/cybersecurity on Reddit: Strong password suggestion
September 6, 2024 -

I am writing a document to send out to everyone in my organization with some tips on creating more secure passwords. A common problem is that with long passwords requirements, which we have, is that people tend use patterns or reuse large chucks of old passwords and simply replace a few characters, PassWordxxxx, changing the xxxx with each reset.

I have an idea to help people create complex, and seekingly random passwords and I want comments and suggestion on if it seems good.

Pick 2 unrelated airports from 2 random cities in the world and the final score of a sporting event.

In this example I’ll use Gatwick, London (LGW) and Juneau, Alaska (JNU) and game 7 of the ‘05 NBA Finals 74-81, the order is up to you. The password could then use those characters and various patterns. An example would be: lgwjnu7481JNULGW&$*!

&$*! is 7481+shift.

The airport codes could simply be replaced other things like the 2 letter codes from 2 random elements form the periodic table, the 2 letter codes for 2 different states, etc.

The numbers could be an area code for a random major city, a year that may have some significance, etc.

Another example would be wyaz1492AZWY!$(@

!$(@ is 1492+shift.

I know this seems like a lot but once you get it it’s actually a simple concept, and considering that it’s important to be secure it’s supposed to be somewhat complex.
