2day Shipping is not a guaranteed service. You are not due a refund. The only service that has a guarantee refund is UPS Next Day Air Early UPS Next Day Air UPS Next Day Air Saver UPS 2nd Day Air A.M. Standard 2nd day has no service guarantee. Also you are not the shipper, you are the recipient. Pay for one of those 4 options next time for a service guarantee. Also without the tracking information/history we can't even see if the package was dropped off to ups in time. Answer from Significant-Ad1410 on reddit.com

July 2, 2025 - Said pending delivery all day Friday until about 5pm then said delayed delivery I didn’t get it till Monday. ... Nope. 2 day air isn't a guaranteed service, and even if it was the shipper would get the refund not you

UPS 2nd Day Air refund? : r/UPS
April 11, 2023 - You'll need to contact the shipper. The 2nd day service only apply once UPS receives the package. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any money back guarantee for 2nd day air.

r/UPS on Reddit: Paid $99 for 2nd day air; now slated to receive package 6 days later
May 20, 2025 -

Hey!

Hoping for some advice on how best to go about handling this. I placed an order with a small business cross-country on Wednesday morning last week, & shipped it 2nd day air because I needed it as a birthday gift for that weekend (which has now already passed).

Initially there was no delivery date showing AT ALL for 2 whole days; tracking showed that it had been “dropped off at a UPS access point” on Wednesday morning, and then… nothing; not even so much as a “We have your package.” I connected with UPS customer service twice during that interim and was initially told by the first agent I spoke with that it was showing up on his end as slated to be delivered on Friday 5/16 (as promised!) and that the info should populate on my end the next day; when it failed to do so, I called back and was then told that they had NO info at all (weird change), and that the business I ordered from would have to file a claim for a missing package (Noteworthy: the agent was also frustratingly obtuse, and didn’t seem to understand I was primarily upset because I’d paid a substantial amount extra for the rush aspect of the shipping… and that even if they could “find” my item, it was now still arriving after the date that I’d needed it, which had of course been the whole point of my having paid $99 for shipping).

Before I had a chance to contact the business directly, however, the tracking info finally updated to say that it was now due to be delivered on Tuesday, 5/20 — a full 6 days after I initially placed the order.

TL;DR questions:

  1. Do I have to ask the business to contact UPS, or is there any way I could just handle it? (Asking only because they’re a very small, independently-owned liquor store, which is why I’d rather handle it directly than have to involve them, if possible)

  2. What area of the UPS website is best to use for this situation? (since “File a claim” seems geared towards shipments that are missing entirely, instead of just delayed, as far as I can tell)

  3. What the heck was up with the package sitting at the UPS Access Point for 2 full days before UPS even apparently had the package in their possession? 🤔 Is this normal?? …Shouldn’t items be picked up, like, multiple times per day if UPS is promising to deliver packages as soon as the next day?

I’d love to get my whole shipping amount refunded, of course (since it kind of ruined the whole birthday-weekend point of the gift), but would settle for just getting a refund of like $60 (or whatever the exact difference was between normal shipping, and the insane amount that I paid for 2nd day).

Any advice is much appreciated; thank you!!! 💖

r/UPS on Reddit: Next day air early says guaranteed, any way to refund?
December 24, 2025 -

So basically the last 3 times I've paid for next day air early which was a hefty bit of money my package has not arrived the next day, it is 2-3 days, their site says it's a guaranteed service so is there any way to get a refund or even partial refund? I tried to get info through the shipper but they haven't given me much to go on, and I spoke to someone not involved in the situation that says the shipper likely doesn't want to push for the refund to jeopardize their relationship with UPS. I don't really think I'd be all that mad if it happened once out of 3 times, but 3 for 3 forking over that kind of money is just absurd to me, why even offer the service if you cannot follow-through with it. Not to mention the updates are so incredibly vague, this most recent one says that they ran out of room loading the plane or something to that effect, so is there only one plane that runs out per day or something? It hasn't been updated since 7:30 this morning, no new delivery time or day, just that they'll update me at some point. I'm hoping that it just gets loaded on a plane this evening and makes delivery tomorrow but hell if I know at this point.

r/UPS on Reddit: 2nd Day Air Question
January 2, 2025 -

Hello, I’ll start by saying that I have used the search function within the sub and found related questions answered that 2DA is not eligible for any sort of refund, however I’m wondering if in this case there is any hope.

I paid for 2DA for an item on Sunday, 12/29, at a UPS store, and it is now Thursday (the expected arrival date) and the package has yet to even be shipped by the UPS store that I visited. The only tracking info is “label created” as of Tuesday, 12/31, and “UPS doesn’t have possession of the package yet. Estimated delivery date will be available as soon as we get the package.”

I understand that 2DA is not a guaranteed service and that Wednesday was a holiday, it just feels a bit fishy to have paid $121 for 2DA when the package hasn’t even been shipped by this point.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice!

TL;DR: paid $121 at UPS store for 2DA on Sunday (12/29) with expected delivery today (1/2); package hasn’t even shipped yet. Feels like I wasted $121.

I shipped a package on Sunday morning at a UPS store. I understood Sunday would not count, but now my 2nd day air package is showing an estimated delivery date of this Thursday. Seriously UPS, Sunday to Thursday from Portland Oregon to Southern California for $50 for a bubble envelope car keyfob to get shipped? That's what you call 2nd day air? Now the recipient is pissed off at me. And from what I've read only 2nd day air AM delivery is covered by a guarantee so I can't even get a refund on my overpriced shipping, is this true?

I've seen a bunch of posts here where people mis-understand "business days", however I'm not really understanding what qualifies as "Days" here. I shipped a package 2nd day air on Wednesday the 8th from central Virginia. It was picked up and accepted on the 8th. It is now the 10th and the package just shipped out of Chicago with estimated arrival Monday the 13th.

Am I wrong to think Thursday should have been day 1 and Friday is Day 2? When I printed the label it explicitly stated it would arrive by Friday the 10th.

Customer wants shipping refunded because UPS delivered late
July 18, 2023 - Yes, it is on you to refund your customer, and then you can get your money back from UPS if you paid for a 2 day service and it did not arrive in 2 days by filing a claim with UPS, but only if the service you picked had a on time delivery guarantee.

r/UPS on Reddit: 2-Day Air Sent Ground?
May 11, 2024 -

I shipped a 2-Day Air package on Wednesday to arrive in time for Mother's Day, and now it's delayed until Monday. In looking at the tracking, it's clear that the package was not sent via air, despite what I chose (Seattle to San Jose. It has literally made every pit stop between here and there over the last three days).

Is this common? Am I naive to think that if I choose and pay for air service that's what I should receive?

I shipped a package on the 17th via 2nd day air, insured for $800, expected delivery on the 19th for $97. It was delivered on the 23rd - 4 days late. I went to the UPS store expecting an easy refund but they said I wasn't due anything since it was an estimated delivery date. "See, right there on the form - Not Guaranteed." I tried through the customer service portal and basically got the same answer.

I appreciate fine-print as much as the next person but this smells mildly of equine droppings. I could have shipped it by snail for far less. How do I get a refund for this?
