Is Dwarf 3 the best portable smart telescope?
I don't own all three, but frequent the posts everywhere, and the S50 is easily the best when it comes to detail. Aperture is king. I haven't seen anyone with an S30 or dwarf 3 rivaling what I can do with my S50 (all three of them ;-) ) Be careful referring them to toys as you'll have a lot of angry people taking umbrage with that. I have done some testing with birding, since i'm working on field of ecology. D3 has very crisp video and is excellent for birding if you use it in manual/general mode. Bird tracking is not reliable and is very much a work in progress (if they are planning to put time and effort into it). I have been in touch with them and written a small review of what i think should be improved. If you are planning to use the general photo/video mode for birding then i think both devices work great. Main difference is the resoluton, 4k vs 1080p and that mini has a longer focal length (1016 vs 737 in 35mm sensor eqiv).

I'm totally inexperienced with Astro but just learned about smart telescopes and it sounds like they'd be a really fun toy to play with. I live in London so don't get very clear skies, so I like the idea of something very portable which I can bring on holiday to clearer skies. There's no point in investing in a larger setup which can't be easily taken around.
From my research it seems like the two smallest high quality options are the Seestar S30 and the Dwarf 3, and from what I can tell, ignoring cost, the Dwsrf is a better spec. Is this accurate to say? Does anyone have any other recommendations?

There are a bunch of videos and blog posts that discuss this question , or at least a similar one between the S50 and the Dwarf. Most I have seen seem to say the s50 is slightly better than the Dwarf 3.

I love my d3. It honestly sees more use than my 72mm doublet with 533 McPro camera on a harmonic mount. It just works. It’s faster to set up. It’s less fussy. If they had a feature to control multiple at once I would buy 2x more.
