Unfortunately, I think it's the nature of LA area thrifting. I can think of two key reasons: The amount of quality vintage clothing remaining in circulation is simply overwhelmed by the amount of crappy fast fashion clothing from the last 20 years. I find this applies to thrift stores across the US now, particularly in communities where the only shopping is Walmart or at best a JC Penney. In LA specifically, I feel like vintage resellers swoop in and grab all the good stuff before anyone else can get to it. St Vincent de Paul downtown used to have great finds, now it's nearly impossible. A vintage thrift shop called Jet Rag has this amazing Sunday deal where everything in their parking lot is only a dollar! It starts very early in the morning and is popular with hipsters and high fashion kids. It's located on North La Brea Ave. I have found many great finds from this store especially since it's in the heart of downtown a lot of classic Hollywood pieces can be found. They only accept cash so make sure you bring your bills.

2nd Street USA (Melrose, Main St. Santa Monica, Torrance, Sherman oaks). Japanese retailer that specializes in well cared for street wear and some luxury brands. Seems like goodwills everywhere in LA are skim. Maybe they’re just like this here. I grew up in the PNW and they were always packed full of treasures. Maybe I need to head east a little ways(?)
Flea markets seem to be mostly trash too. Seems like all of the prices are just waiting for the odd chance a sucker will come through rather than asking a normal fair price for something. I don’t mind overpaying but these prices are like whut
