The best vintage shops and flea markets in Los Angeles
July 14, 2025 - Discover the best vintage shops and flea markets in Los Angeles, from thrifting at the Rose Bowl to curated designer finds on Melrose Avenue.
Unfortunately, I think it's the nature of LA area thrifting. I can think of two key reasons: The amount of quality vintage clothing remaining in circulation is simply overwhelmed by the amount of crappy fast fashion clothing from the last 20 years. I find this applies to thrift stores across the US now, particularly in communities where the only shopping is Walmart or at best a JC Penney. In LA specifically, I feel like vintage resellers swoop in and grab all the good stuff before anyone else can get to it. St Vincent de Paul downtown used to have great finds, now it's nearly impossible. And then the resellers go and try to sell things for exorbitant prices at places like the Rose Bowl flea market, as you observed. Answer from LAeclectic on reddit.com

Where to go for vintage/thrift stuff?

How are Los Angeles thrift stores?
They get picked over pretty thoroughly because thrifting is popular and kinda trendy. They aren't particularly expensive but there are vintage stores and resellers that can be. I don't really know that much because it's not my thing, just observation based on my fiancee and her sister thrifting. I do hear palm springs can be good for thrifting because the population is old, fashionable, and wealthy. More on reddit.com

On the west side, Jet Rag probably. They have those dollar sales in the parking lot on Sundays, too. If you're ever in the SGV, the Savers in Arcadia is great, too. In Atwater, there's Dresscue (formerly Redress), but that's a consignment store, not a thrift store. There's also a bunch in Burbank, like half a dozen thrift/vintage shops all within a few block of each other, on Magnolia between N Hollywood Way and Buena Vista. If you're more interested in furniture/decor than clothing, there's a great Salvation Army store specializing in antiques in Pasadena, on Waverly just off Fair Oaks. More on reddit.com

Los Angeles Thrift Store Guide – Lone Fox
May 12, 2021 - This specific Out of the Closet is my favorite, it’s considered their super store and it’s tucked away in an industrial area of LA. I’ve always found really unique home decor and furniture pieces there. They offer a more curated selection but everything is in great condition! I always find really cool lamps and chic home decor trinkets. I would say because it is more curated their prices are a little higher than a Goodwill...
