1993 animated film

In the middle of a city street lie several floating balloons, a background audience, and multiple characters upfront. There are four prehistoric reptiles, including (from left to right) a green Parasaurolophus, an orange Tyrannosaurus Rex, a purple Pterodactyl, and a blue Triceratops. There is also a green alien in the middle-to-top-left, a boy and a girl together in the middle-to-bottom-left, and a man between the Tyrannosaurus' legs.

"We're Back: A Dinosaur Story" is a movie with aliens, magic, science, soul binding documents signed with the blood of innocent children, demons, child abuse/abandonment references....John Goodman....it was so much more strange than I remember it being.
This has and will always be one of my favorite films, animated or non-animated. The carnival/"sign by blood" scenes left a huge impression on me as a child, and still does now. I miss when animations weren't afraid of venturing into darker, more mature themes. The whole film was quite an emotional roller-coaster, not to mention having one of the best soundtracks scored James Horner. THIS in particular never fails to give me chills and turn me into a babbling, crying, emotional mess. It really pulls at those nostalgic heartstrings... It's my childhood in a nutshell. Is We're Back A Dinosaur's Story a good kid's dinosaur movie or not?
How do you define good? It was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and I remember seeing the very end and wanting so badly to go to a museum(I didn't think there would be live dinosaurs, but the idea of The Museum of Natural History was new to me). Theres nothing in it that I don't think would hold up to today's standards. The whole thing was framed as a lesson about being nice to your parents. Overall a good kid's movie in that regard. But not one single accurate dino fact is present in the entire movie lmao More on reddit.com

r/movies on Reddit: Who remembers that weird animated dinosaur movie? (We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story)
July 25, 2020 -

You know those movies you saw as a kid that you have vague recollection of? The movies you thought you just made up in your dreams and could never remember the title? That is the story with me and 1993's We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story. Released at a time when there was a surge in dinosaur-related media like Jurassic Park, We're Back! didn't do that well at the box office and received mixed reviews from critics.

I first recall seeing the movie years ago either on VHS or Cartoon Network. I only remember stuff like the goofy dinosaurs, the two kids, and that really creepy circus. Years later, I saw the movie was streaming on Netflix and just had to rewatch it. After doing so, I can conclude that We're Back is one of the weirdest animated movie I've ever seen.

The plot involves a bunch of dinosaurs who gain intelligence by eating "Brain Grain." A special cereal made by inventor Captain Neweyes, who is voiced by journalist Walter Cronkite and he wants them to meet children or something. Then there's some conflict involving the dinosaurs being in New York City (it's always New York City) where they befriend two kids, Louie & Cecilia, and get exploited by Neweyes' evil brother Professor Screweyes, and then more hijinks ensue.

One thing to note about We're Back! is the voice talent which includes John Goodman, Charles Fleischer, Martin Short, Kenneth Mars, Julia Child, Jay Leno, Yeardley Smith, and Felicity Kendal.

There's also some standout moments like the song at the parade "Roll Back the Rock" and Professor's Screweye's death which is perhaps the most unique villain death in any movie.

Other than that, it's a pretty weird animated movie. There's a dinosaur that loves hot dogs, an alien that Neweyes hires to round up the dinos, and the kids get turned into monkeys.

So is it on par with the Disney animated movies that were being released at the time? Nope. But it does have that 90s nostalgia going for it including some really great animation. Who else remembers this movie?

We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story
'90s dino time-travel tale has scares, peril. Read Common Sense Media's We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story review, age rating, and parents guide. In spite of an abundance of characters, a weak musical production number, and an often tangled, overloaded story, there's still something to appreciate here. Particularly enjoyable are some of the surprising voice actors, a terrific Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as the dinosaurs masquerade as floats, and two engaging kid characters from the Big Apple. Lots of frightening images and a wicked circus maestro who tries to create mayhem in Central Park make

We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story

A Dinosaur's Story" is the kind of innocuous animated kiddie movie you maybe wouldn't mind seeing on Saturday morning TV. (At least, a kiddie might not mind. I would.) It's shallow and kind of dumb, and the animation is routine, and the story isn't much, and the stakes are a lot higher these days in the featurelength animation game. The movie makes much of its producer's

We’re Back! A Dinosaur Story Was a Kid-Unfriendly Tale of Terror
November 15, 2022 - Jurassic Park became one of the biggest movies of all time, and positioned dinosaurs squarely in the zeitgeist of the early 1990s. From the never-ending Land Before Time straight-to-video saga, to Roland Emmerich’s hilariously awful take on Godzilla, and all the Spielberg-adjacent ventures in between, dinosaurs were an essential pillar in the x-treme '90s childhood idyll.
