Can You Wear a Dark Green Suit to a Wedding?
A dark green suit can be a stylish choice for a wedding. Its distinctive color offers a refreshing alternative to the more traditional black or navy suit choices commonly seen at these events. Dark green suits are an excellent option for various wedding personnel, including groomsmen, wedding party members, guests, and the groom or marrier themselves.
Keep in mind that the appropriateness of wearing a dark green men's suit to a wedding largely depends on the wedding's theme, venue, and specified dress code. A dark green suit can feel particularly fitting for outdoor weddings, especially those in garden environments, and it can bring some subtle fun to semi-formal or cocktail settings. However, traditional colors might be preferred for more formal or black–tie events.
As always, consider the event and consult the hosts or invitation for guidance on what to wear to a wedding.
What Color Tie Should You Wear with a Dark Green Suit?
The tie you choose to accompany a dark green suit can make a statement or balance your outfit. Earth-toned ties in shades of brown, beige, or even muted gold can provide the perfect pairing. However, a deep navy tie can offer a sophisticated contrast when paired with a white shirt under your dark green suit jacket.
For those looking for something more vibrant, ties in rich burgundy or even shades of purple can pop beautifully against the backdrop of a forest green suit. Patterns, such as stripes or florals, can add visual interest, too, without overpowering the suit's color.
What are green suits used for?
Ok, so my fiance has literally ONE request for our wedding - and it’s to wear a green suit. He doesn't care if it is light green or dark green, he just wants to wear green. In theory, this is great. Love this for him. In practice, I am having a TIME trying to make it work in my head. I have so many questions.
Since our wedding is in July of 2024, I was hoping to find olive/sage green suits to rent. From what I’ve found, exactly zero rental places have those colors, only emerald/dark green. Which is, like…fine, but it just gives me more winter/autumn wedding vibes than summer wedding vibes. (Link for reference). I’ve seen a few lighter green options to BUY, but that feels like a lot to ask the groomsmen. Also, the suit I linked is wool and our wedding is outdoors. Will they be sweltering??
I really don’t love the mismatched groomsmen look, so they’d all be green. Is that going to look dumb?? Like a little band of leprechauns?? Two of them have red/red-ish hair too lmao. I’ve seen people do like, groom in green and groomsmen in grey or beige, or groomsmen in just pants and shirt with no suit jacket, but I’m just not a fan of those looks.
What color bridesmaids dresses do you put with dark green suits? I know that champagne/beige-ish would look nice on paper - but I feel like that is not a flattering color on most people, and I want my bridesmaids to feel good too. And even if it did flatter all of them, I just don’t think I want that. Would a light blue look nice? (Azazie in colors sky blue, mist, or sea glass for reference). I would go black, but dark green and black feels too. Like. Slytherin inspired. Especially for July. Just not the vibe I’m looking for. Maybe navy, but I don’t love that EITHER.
I don’t know, guys. Desperately seeking suggestions and ideas. I was initially hoping we could do a black and white thing, so it’d be easy to make everything match, but I absolutely want him to have his thing and feel good. It’s just making my brain hurt.
