They will want more and more and hound you for more and more. I would suggest against it, but Western Union operates as a bank and is governed by banking laws. You are not going to be hacked or anything but you will be giving up private info that you might not have revealed such as your full name and where you reside, if in the united states what state. I believe western union is an overlay. It is its own form of a payment system that sits on top of other payment systems. Think of it as venmo or PayPal with a physical location. Alice wants to send Bob money. Alice tells Bob she is sending $100 through western union. Alice goes into western union. She gives her local western union branch $100 to send and pays a fee. Western union now has in their internal ledgers that Alice has sent Bob $100. Bob goes into western union and picks up his money. The person at Bob's western union sees in the system that Bob was transfered $100 from Alice. And so they give him $100 out of the register and mark in the ledger it has been payed.
