Hello DizzyM, No it is not dead. Give it a minute or two to update itself. I've seen this Watch App > All Watches and you click on the Circle I button. Sometimes you will see the null indication, but give it a minute or two and it will update showing the watch information.

Before this update i used to have apple music played on watch but after this update apple music is not available on my watch.
