Ok I’m having a tough time properly phrasing the question, my words aren’t wording right now so forgive me.
What i mean is, does the scarecrow know that the tin man is Boq? Does the tin man know that the scarecrow is Fiyero? Are they just pretending to not know each other for the sake of Dorothy, or do they really just not recognize each other and assume they’re strangers?
I guess that includes the wizard too since Fiyero worked for him. Does he not know that the scarecrow is his once trusted captain of the guard (or whatever he was)?
In the musical, Boq seems to know who the cowardly lion is and his backstory with Elphaba, or at least the version they believe where she kidnapped him instead of saving him.
Maybe that question will be answered in part 2, idk. I’m just wondering if maybe it’s mentioned anywhere in the book or something?

In the novel, only the lion has the actual connection. I’ll give you book spoilers if you want, but I want to ask first lol. In the musical, I believe they do know who one another are, because the spells turning them into who they are are said out loud in the audience’s presence.

I kinda feel bad for Boq/Tin Man. Sure, he’s mad about Elphaba and gets his “heart” back. You would think that after Elphaba “dies”, he would’ve turned back to normal and it isn’t the case, what that does to his psyche? Like Fieryo gets a happy ending and the Cowardly Lion, along with the other animals, are back being proper citizens of Oz.

I imagine he becomes a beloved public figure. In WoZ, the Wizard told him "having a heart is not about how much he loves, but how much he is loved". So in Wicked world, that can be reinterpreted as him moving on from Glinda, and instead embracing the adoration from Oz citizens.
