I had the same thing happen. I was using WireGuard to VPN my connection through my home, and my guess is that my IP address was flagged as being in Mexico. To try to fix this, I kept the VPN enabled and just used Google Maps (I’m using an iPhone) for even short drives. Eventually it fixed itself, but other members of the household were also getting YouTube’s and Google Search’s interface in Spanish. Were you using a VPN? Answer from Rolcol on reddit.com

r/techsupport on Reddit: All Google services think I'm still in Mexico and default to Spanish despite being home a week and telling it to display English 100 times.
April 16, 2023 -

I've searched this up and down and no suggestions are working. Location services on my phone are on and have never been turned off. Every device I own, including 4 computers that never even went to Mexico with me, are defaulting to Mexican relevant results when I search anything. It's obviously google account related but I can't find a way to force it to re-learn, or whatever it does, where I currently am. Currently I'm struggling to even get it back to English because I can't find correct settings and the obvious "Switch to English" prompt isn't showing up anymore like it was a few days ago. I've tried signing out and back in, manually switching my region to United States and switching it back to "current region", rebooting phone, turning location services on and off, clearing browser history on all devices, and more. Any suggestions?

Edit: Even when I sign out of my Google account, clear all browser data, and do a search on a computer that didn't even go to Mexico with me, I'm still getting Mexican relevant results in Spanish. Pulling my hair out here.

Edit again: Even on a fresh Ubuntu install on a machine that never went to Mexico and has never been signed into a single Google service EVER, I am getting Mexican relevant results in Spanish. It's as if Google thinks my home network IP is in Mexico.

I also had removed the Google account from all my devices (both browsers and phones), but I still couldn't get it to work. In the end, I wasn't able to do anything -- I just created a new Google account. Nevertheless, thanks to everyone who tried to help me here ;) ... The solution: Go to the three dots and choose Settings. Go to Manage your Google accounts Go to Make Google yours and click: Data & personalization Go to General preferences for the web Go to Languages If your preference is correct anyway, for instance, English then a screen will pop up saying " Not all programs are using English' Click the tab saying CHANGE ALL

r/techsupport on Reddit: Why are *some* of my Google services suddenly and randomly in Spanish?
August 10, 2023 -

I was looking for a hotel in Madrid on Google Maps the other day, using private browsing on Firefox so the flights I was also booking wouldn't be hiked up in price, and Maps changed the language settings to Spanish. I switched it back to English, and the language never changed to Spanish in any other tab (except maybe the one I used to Google how to change the language on Google Maps, can't recall), but since then, random search results have come back in Spanish, and some searches in my native language have been interpreted as searches in Spanish. YouTube just logged me out, and the homepage was recommending all Spanish stuff. Just now as I was signing into Reddit, the option to sign in using Google was "Continuar con Google". I can't find any rhyme or reason as to what changes to Spanish and when. One time, only the word for "images" in the filters bar was in Spanish, but the rest were in English.

I've checked my Google settings multiple times. My language is set to English. Every time Google prompts me, I click on the option to get only English search results. My location is set to "current location", and Maps shows that accurately. Laptop settings are also correct. Haven't actually checked Firefox settings yet, just assumed Firefox wouldn't crap the bed like that. And it's only Google that's changing stuff to Spanish

Also, if some clever clogs answers in Spanish like in that askreddit post, I'm telling mom.

I don't know how I fixed it exactly, but I basically turned off every setting that could possibly be Spanish - the keyboard, the regional date format, and the phone language. After that, I restarted, and having just checked right now, the search is now in English 🙂 Hope this helps anyone with this problem.
